So who do I bring to my bridal appointment?

My adcice is always to choose wisely 🙌

But as long as you know yourself well enough to know that you can be true to yourself regardless of what anyone else say then who am I to put a number on the amount of people you bring with you - within reason ofcourse!

And ofcourse many of you brides are surrounded by lots of wonderful people who will support your feelings and decisions regardless of their own tastes, likes or style..

BECAUSE THEY LOVE YOU, and care about you❤️

So why should you not involve them in one of the most important experiences right?

And in all honesty we've had some pretty amazing appointments here at Yorkshire Bridal Boutique York with 5, 6, and even 7 people - especially with our VIP appointments because these brides listened to my advice and agreed with it all, but they were 100% confident in them selves and their own decisions regardless of what anyone else said and in all honesty, those wouldn't have been so special if those brides hadn't have had those people there with them to celebrate it with.

Now this is not me telling you to bring 8 people to your appointment because for ALOT of people this will be a COMPLETE DISASTER and up their with THE MOST DUMBEST thing you ever did - sorry to be harsh 😂

But what I am saying is know yourself, choose wisely and be prepared to say yes to yourself - not to just please ANYONE else...

And if you do feel like it is better to come alone then you should know that this is ABSOLUTELY okay too 🫶

Many brides choose their dress alone or with just one other person, and then book an appointment to reveal their dress to their bride tribe at a follow up appointment, and this is just as magical as any other appointment.

Whatever you decide we are here to support you and help make this a moment you'll remember forever, so whatever that looks like to you just let us know 🤍

Choosing the right boutique for you, advice from a boutique owner & bridal alterations specialist 🫶

Do your research before booking, this means checking out current designers, styles, sizes and getting a good feel for their vibe to see if it feels a good fit for you.

Don't over commit.

Choosing a couple of boutiques to visit first that align with your style is a good way to approach wedding dress shopping - booking 10 different boutiques at once is definitely OTT.
This is supposed to be special and memorable, if you can't decide between a few boutiques then how will you ever choose between the 90 - 120 dresses that you try on at these boutiques?

I've heard more than a few stories now from real living breathing brides and this one comes up often 👇

I had a bride recently who's friend had traveled the country and tried on over a 100 dresses and then ended up going back to the 3rd dress that she tried on at the very first boutique.
She openly admitted that it completely ruined her experience and she wishes she'd done things much much differently instead of following the trends on social media.

She did what she thought was expected of her and in the end was confused, exhausted and mentally drained by the overwhelming amount of choice that she had given herself.
She had driven herself crazy with Pinterest boards and chasing a dress that didn't even exist.

She was done and just wanted her wedding to be over.

Months and months of excitement that turned into overwhelming stress that LITERALLY took over everything else.

Ivory blindness is real. And it kills the magic.

Too many cooks and all that jazz 👎

There are millions of gorgeous wedding dresses out there, you literally could go on searching forever, but if you find a dress that feels amazing, that you can truly imagine yourself walking down the isle in, you feel comfortable and completely yourself in EVEN THOUGH wearing a wedding dress is COMPLETELY out of the norm for you, then you've found it and you really do not need to go and try on 30 more dresses or even 10 more dresses to clarify it.

Choose the boutiques that align.
Be ready to fall❤

Trust yourself. If it feels right, then it's right!

You want a fitted wedding dress but tummy conscious 🙌

Our drop dead gorgeous new arrival from Justin Alexander.

The perfectly placed rouching detail to the front of Kendall is so clever - not only does it add detail to a dress that could look alittle too plain, but it gives an extra layer of 'protection' for those of us who ABSOLUTELY DO NOT have a tummy 🙈🤣 but do feel consious of that specific area, especially in such a fitted wedding dress!

Available with or without sleeves but would also look beautiful with a subtle bardot sleeves too! Made in either the same fabric as the dress which is a lively soft stretch Mikado or the matching lace which is the same as the sleeves shown here 👌

Can't jmagine going strapless? No problem!
It definitely doesn't need it but we can also add a nice spaghetti strap if you feel like that feels more comfortable or more like you 😊

I'm a sleeve kind of girlie all the way and I just love that you can switch up the look of a wedding dress to give a different look without having to go all out and have more than one dress!

With some dresses the options really are limitless - especially if you find yourself a really good seamstress like me 🙈🤣😘

Detachable sleeve? Done ✔️

Don't like the p**f? We can take it out!

Fancy a bardot sleeves instead? Pass my the scissors and I'll make you some out of the sleeve 😉

Don't like a sheer bodice? I can line that for you! Maybe even put it on poppers so that you can whip it out for your night do later on 💃

Don't like the n**e cups? Let's switch them for ivory!

Feel better with a wide strap? Not a problem 🪡

Train too long? Let's shorten that for you.

Want two looks in one? Let's chop that skirt off and make it detachable then put a mini under it 😍
