Like Emmy + Bell, they wanted their wedding to be surrounded by nature and history… Danby Castle really ticked all the boxes!

Happy one month married, Soyoung + Liam!

I'm still not over your beautiful wedding day, and looking through these photos is taking me back to those lovely feelings!

We enjoyed hearing your groomsmen's perspective on your relationship, an uplifting singalong that got everybody involved, vows in Korean and English, a ring exchange and a Korean-style 'welcome to the family' speech with a modern twist.

“It’s all thanks to you for giving us such a special and personal ceremony. It really made us realise the amount of love and support we have back home.”

I’m not one for blowing my own ceremonies trumpet, and truthfully it’s the part of the job that gives me the ick the most! But sometimes I get feedback that stops me in my tracks, and makes me think differently about what Humanist wedding ceremonies can do. I talk a lot about how they make you feel in the moment, and how they reveal things about your relationship you might not have noticed.

But they can also reveal a lot about how your loved ones feel about you. So much so that Liam + Soyoung have decided to move from Seoul to Yorkshire!

I’m so moved to learn that the ceremony I curated with help from Liam + Soyoung’s friends and family has had such an impact. 🥲

First birthday parties sound cool but what about a Humanist naming ceremony…

… led by a celebrant who knows what it’s like to have small people…

… and a boatful of people who know how to have a good time?

What about hearing your family’s story + values, and welcoming your baby into your community?

What about honouring the people you’ve chosen as guide parents, and celebrating grannies and grandads?

What about gathering the wisdom of your community into a time capsule for the future?

What about inviting your friend to read a poem that perfectly expresses this moment of transition in your life?

Will there be cake?

There can be cake (and drinks while you listen, and music to dance to and toasts to the future)! 🥂

Sound cool? Naming ceremonies can take as little as a few weeks to prepare, but have a huge impact in celebrating your little one’s birth, and welcoming them into your community.
