Top UK Chefs Call for VAT Cut to 10%

Leading UK chefs, including Tom Kerridge, Yotam Ottolenghi, and Simon Rogan, have urged the government to reduce hospitality VAT from 20% to 10%.

The campaign, “VAT’s the Problem,” cites rising labour costs, energy bills, and food inflation as threats to pubs, restaurants, cafés, and hotels.

While temporary VAT cuts for children’s meals and attractions exist, industry leaders warn that without a broader reduction, more venues may close and skilled workers could leave the sector.

Politicians such as Andy Burnham and Nigel Farage have backed the call for a permanent cut.

A Memorable Evening at the Sipsmith Sipper Club Launch

Sipsmith Gin, the British craft gin brand renowned for initiating the modern “ginaissance,” has recently unveiled its Sipper Club. The Sipper Club offers an enhanced private dining experience that pairs Sipsmith’s gin with each course.

Wonderful Communications attended the launch event that was held at the Sipsmith distillery in London, situated in Chiswick. Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with a drinks reception and served delightful canapés in the courtyard.

The dinner was hosted inside the distillery, which was elegantly adorned with the impressive copper stills prominently displayed. The exquisite Sipper menu consisted of three, gin-infused dishes and was crafted by Giuseppe Trezza, a quarter-finalist from Masterchef: The Professionals.

While enjoying each course, the Sipsmith team shared intriguing facts about the brand, its history, and the gin production process at the distillery. The evening was thoroughly enjoyable, filled with impeccable food, refreshing drinks, and informal education about the Sipsmith brand.

Guests also had the chance to explore the Sipsmith shop on-site for any items they wished to purchase.
As they departed, all guests received a Sipsmith London goody bag as a memento of a memorable evening.

Staying Home This Summer: Britons Choose the UK Amid Flight Fears

Travel firms anticipate a rise in reservations for summer vacations in the UK following a surge in interest from Britons concerned about potential flight cancellations associated with the Iran conflict.

In the upcoming weeks, summer bookings are projected to increase amid alerts regarding possible jet fuel shortages and subsequent cancellations by airlines throughout Europe.

According to Barclays data, travel expenditure declined in March for the first time since the lifting of pandemic travel restrictions in 2021, decreasing by 3.3%. Spending on travel agencies fell by 4.6%, airlines by 4.1%, and public transport by 2.9%.

Nonetheless, Sinead O’Connor, a travel analyst at Mintel, stated that despite the pressures of living costs, the desire for vacations remains robust.

She noted that their research indicated 52% of Britons surveyed intended to take holidays within the UK, while 49% planned to travel abroad.

"We anticipate that the domestic holiday market will expand by approximately 7% this year, approaching £14 billion, and will surpass the growth of overseas travel," she remarked.

Mintel forecasts that the overseas travel sector will grow by 4.8% this year, reaching £64.3 billion.

Concerns are escalating that the oil crisis instigated by the conflict in the Middle East may result in fuel shortages in Europe this summer.

An array of succulent dishes was served alongside tasty cocktails, mocktails, zestful desserts, and breathtaking views.
The service from the TING restaurant team was flawless from start to finish.

Dynamic Duo Rachel Zegler & Ben Platt To Star In 'The Last Five Years' At The London Palladium

Rachel Zegler returns to the London Palladium for a third time following her solo concert and lead role in Jamie Lloyd's production of Evita in summer 2025.

Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award winner Ben Platt and Golden Globe winner Rachel Zegler will star together in a new concert staging of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years, which plays at the London Palladium from 24 - 29 March 2026.

Zegler, is best known for her screen roles in The Hunger Games and West Side Story. Platt's credits include Dear Evan Hansen, Pitch Perfect, and Parade.

The concert staging will mark the 25th anniversary of this musical about the five-year relationship of Cathy, a struggling actress, and Jamie, a rising novelist. Tony Award winner Brown returns to the West End to direct.
