Every October, Black History Month brings themed menus and one-off entertainment. But culture isn’t a seasonal special.

Our founder Rugie Wurie-Lamin has spent two decades creating celebrations across Africa, Europe and the Middle East, and she’s always said the best way to understand a culture is to sit at its table. So she’s shared the restaurants she actually eats at in London, all year round.

From Ivorian food at Sikatio in Brockley to a Borough Market favourite, these are the places she’d take you herself, and the kind of authentic flavour we bring into the weddings and events we design.

Our Home, Our Heritage

What a privilege it was to deliver the TAF Africa Global West African Real Estate Expo at the Four Seasons Hotel London.

TAF Africa Global build affordable, quality homes across Africa, from The Gambia to Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Liberia and beyond. When they came to London to meet the diaspora, they wanted one thing: to arrive and focus on their guests while someone else took care of everything else.

So we did. The venue, the food, the room, the branding in TAF red, the suppliers and every detail on the day.

The best part? Watching families walk up to those model homes and start picturing their future back home.

“If I were to score MWP Collective, I would give you 99.999. Everything was perfect.” —Mustapha Njie, CEO, TAF Africa Global

Thank you, TAF, for trusting us with your London moment. 🙏🏾

They called from West Africa. We delivered in London. 🇬🇧🌍

A real estate brand needed a UK event without flying in to manage it. We took care of everything: the venue search, Four Seasons Park Lane, food and beverage, logistics, the full experience. All they had to do was arrive.
This is what we do. If your brand is in Lagos, Accra, Freetown, Senegal, Kenya, Denmark? Dubai or anywhere in the diaspora and you want to host in the UK, you don't need to be here. You need us.

MWP Collective is your team on the ground. 🤝

What would your approach be if you got a client who wanted to honour every ritual across a multi-day South Asian celebration: Haldi, Mehndi, Sangeet, ceremony and reception?

Spoiler alert: this might be one of the questions we'll be tearing apart tonight at The Biltmore Mayfair for the UK Wedding Association event. We'll also be exploring:

- Bringing two families (and sometimes two cultures) into one shared vision

- Hosting hundreds of guests without losing the personal touch

- Choosing vendors who understand the traditions, not just the aesthetic

Twenty years of multicultural celebrations have taught me one thing: culture is the brief, not the theme.

If you're in the room tonight, come and catch up with me.

This Tuesday, our founder Rugie will be at The Biltmore in London, hosting a round table with the UK Wedding Association on a subject at the heart of everything we do: cultural intelligence.

Fusion celebrations are a big part of our work, and some of our favourites: two families
gathering to celebrate their cultures together. They're also some of the most delicate. There are mothers-in-law who want their say in their son's wedding, and aunties fussing over every little detail. Often we sit both families down together, gently explaining what each tradition means and what each side expects, so everyone feels respected.

Not long ago, a young graduate greeted international businessman and serial entrepreneur Tony Elumelu as "Tony". He replied: "You'll call me Mr Elumelu or I don't subscribe to that kind of Oyinbo life."
She meant no harm. She simply didn't know how much it would matter to him, especially in front of everyone at such a big event. The little things matter, and they're the things families remember.

When Bozoma Saint John married in Ghana, the world got a glimpse of how beautiful and deep these traditions are. There's a language here we all need to learn to serve couples and their families fully and respectfully.
On Tuesday, Rugie ( Rugie Wurie-Lamin ) will mostly be listening, hearing where wedding professionals feel unsure, where the gaps are, an
d how we can all learn from each other.
If you're attending, come and join her table.

When I started this journey in 2010, it was all about weddings. Mrs Wedding Planner was my name, my brand and, I thought, my lane.

Then I was recommended to TAF Africa Global, TAF Africa Global a property investment company preparing to enter the European market. I nearly talked myself out of it. I didn't even have a corporate portfolio to show.

I'll never forget sitting in that first consultation with their stakeholders and apologising: "I'm sorry, my website and my name say weddings, but I can plan any event."

The managing director looked at me and said: "But that's exactly why we hired you. If you can plan a wedding, you can plan anything."

That was my lightbulb moment đź’ˇ

When you think about it, a wedding is the most personal, high-stakes event anyone will ever host. Every family, every culture, every detail matters. Those same skills were exactly what TAF needed: an experience that introduced them to a new market and rewarded the clients who had believed in them from the very beginning.

So I became an extension of their team. They shared their goals, and I came on board to deliver them, with all the commitment of an in-house team.

Two decades on, that work has taken me across Africa, Europe and the Middle East. I've judged at the Wedding Industry Awards and spoken at the Experiential Planner Expo in Dubai on how the UAE can reach the multicultural market in the UK.

That's why MWP Collective is not a new beginning. It's a continuation of everything Mrs Wedding Planner was built on: culture, care and flawless ex*****on. Now we serve private clients and brands alike, from destination weddings and milestone celebrations to market entry, leadership experiences and in-house events.

To everyone who has trusted us with your celebrations over the years, thank you. You're the reason we're here 🤍

When a family trusts you twice, it means everything

A few years ago we planned her sister's wedding, and this year we had the joy of doing it all again for Vanessa & Akwasi in Essex. Choosing us has become a family tradition, and we couldn't be more honoured.

Such an adorable couple. Such a privilege. Congratulations to the new Mr & Mrs!
