As Volunteers’ Week draws to a close, let's take a moment to celebrate the heart and soul of our visitor experience: our volunteer Welcomers. This week, they are all looking very snazzy in their new Greyfriars Kirk fleeces, which were kindly gifted by a member of our congregation.

We’re proud to welcome over 110,000 visitors through our doors every year and our dedicated volunteers come in every week sharing their knowledge💭, hospitality😊 and passion for history🔎.

We're also shining the spotlight on our two volunteer Shop Managers, who have dedicated nearly 16 years to developing our gift shop and visitor experience. This week, they were awarded a certificate of recognition at Volunteer Edinburgh’s Inspiring Volunteer Awards; a truly well-deserved tribute to their outstanding work.

A huge thank you to all our volunteers, for the time and talents you bring to the Kirk💜

Tomorrow, 1:30pm 👉🏻 come and find out about the dog that starred as Bobby in the 1961 Disney film, Greyfriars Bobby 🐾

David Hunter is a member of the family who adopted a stray dog from the Isle of Lewis—one who went on to represent the one and only, Greyfriars Bobby. David shares this heart-warming story in his new book, Finding Greyfriars Bobby.

The book explores the making of the film, Bobby’s subsequent celebrity status in Edinburgh, anecdotes from life with him, and private family photos that have never been made public before.

Make sure to stop by the Kirk on Thursday from 1:30pm to meet David, buy the book from the Kirk Shop, and learn more about the dog behind one of the most iconic canine roles of all time!
