Tomorrow, 1:30pm 👉🏻 come and find out about the dog that starred as Bobby in the 1961 Disney film, Greyfriars Bobby 🐾

David Hunter is a member of the family who adopted a stray dog from the Isle of Lewis—one who went on to represent the one and only, Greyfriars Bobby. David shares this heart-warming story in his new book, Finding Greyfriars Bobby.

The book explores the making of the film, Bobby’s subsequent celebrity status in Edinburgh, anecdotes from life with him, and private family photos that have never been made public before.

Make sure to stop by the Kirk on Thursday from 1:30pm to meet David, buy the book from the Kirk Shop, and learn more about the dog behind one of the most iconic canine roles of all time!

Tonight at the Kirk with tickets available on the door - what are you waiting for? Come join us and Dunedin Consort! 🎶

We close our 30th anniversary season this week with an extraordinary celebration of Baroque music featuring not one, but two of J.S. Bach’s greatest cantatas: 'Gott soll allein' and 'Wir müssen durch viel Trübsal'. Between them sit two pieces by Georg Philipp Telemann and Christoph Graupner, showcasing the rich and colourful sounds of flute, oboe d’amore and viola d’amore.

We’re delighted to welcome back the sensational countertenor Alexander Chance, alongside director John Butt, Stephen Farr (organ), Alexandra Bellamy (oboe d’amore), Katy Bircher (flute), and Huw Daniel (viola d’amore).

We’re also thrilled to be joined by players from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, performing side by side with the musicians of Dunedin Consort for what promises to be a vibrant evening of Baroque brilliance.

📆 6 - 8 May, 7.30pm: Greyfriars Kirk Edinburgh | Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Glasgow | Wigmore Hall London
🎤 pre-concert talk at 6.30pm with John Butt in Edinburgh

What's the best way to finish off a week? Friday quiz night, obviously! 📋
Last week, members of the congregation, our incredible volunteers & staff as well as some familiar faces from our across our inspiring community split up into teams and put their knowledge to the test... however, there could only be one winner, and on this occasion Friends of the Kirkyard came out on top!
Alongside the quiz, we ran a raffle meaning those on other teams did also walk away with a little something.
We're already planning the next one...

Thanks to all who attended the Kirking of the Deacon Convener of the Incorporated Trades of Edinburgh with us on Saturday!
The Convenery of the Incorporated Trades of Edinburgh dates back to c.1562 and the individual Trades date back to the 15th century.
This service was led by on of our Elders, and special thanks goes to friend of Greyfriars and Chair of Edinburgh Interfaith Association, Joe Goldblatt.
Following the service inside the Kirk, there was a procession to the grave of Mary Erskine to pay respects to the main contributor to the Trades Maiden Hospital, now the Edinburgh Trades Fund for young people.
You can find out more about the Incorporated Trades of Edinburgh on their website and more on special services at Greyfriars - https://greyfriarskirk.com/worship/specialservices/
