Behind the scenes of textile-to-textile recycling

As part of PERFORMANCE DAYS’ commitment to connecting innovation, sustainability, and material expertise, Anna Schuster, Head of Sustainability at PERFORMANCE DAYS, joined René Bethmann from VAUDE on a visit to China Textile Recycling (CTR).

The visit provided valuable insights into the realities of scaling textile recycling—from hands-on sorting processes and AI-supported material identification to the importance of high-quality feedstock preparation. One key takeaway: a truly circular textile industry can only be achieved through collaboration between brands, recyclers, technology providers, and material experts.

Circularity moves forward through collaboration

PERFORMANCE DAYS has released the updated Textile-to-Textile Recycling Reference Guide, an open industry resource mapping the innovators, research and key players shaping the future of circular textiles.

Built from the insights, conversations and sustainability Focus Topics of the October 2025 and March 2026 shows, the guide brings greater transparency to the evolving T2T ecosystem and supports knowledge sharing across the entire textile value chain.

Curated by Anna Schuster, Head of Sustainability at PERFORMANCE DAYS, the guide is designed as a living resource that will continue to evolve alongside future industry developments and sustainability initiatives.

Looking back at March edition of PERFORMANCE DAYS, a standout moment was the second edition of the Creative Area, created in collaboration with TheCube Archive and Luca Zanatta.
A curated mix of historical garments, vintage performance wear, and forward-thinking material innovation came together to tell one story: performance has always shaped fashion, and continues to push it forward.
More than just technical specs, this space invited us to experience materials through design, culture, and emotion. Where function becomes aesthetic.
