Jury Week at PERFORMANCE DAYS.
This season we welcome a few guests to the table: Yasemin Malcolm (Uvex), Tom White (Under Armour), Eva Gruber (JET SET), Birgit Gahlen (The Woolmark Company), Johannes Fürst (Natural Laboratory), Dominik Fuss (Natural Laboratory) and Jenni Toft (Nura). Together with our team they go through every submission, compare perspectives and decide which fabrics maket it to the forums or take the awards.

Two days of hands-on work with the materials, then the results go on the tables.

Introducing the Garment Tech Forum, new at PERFORMANCE DAYS this October. A dedicated space in Hall A6 where you’ll find benchmark garment construction from leading manufacturers, organized across 5 categories: Construction, Seams & Bonding, Adjustments, Branding, and Wearables & Specials.
The centerpiece? A shell jacket split down the middle, revealing every layer of its internal build. Scan the QR code on each mock-up to connect straight to the manufacturer behind it.

Material spotlight: Grown, not manufactured.   The next wave of performance textile materials isn’t being manufactured in the traditional sense, it’s being biofabricated.   Mycelium-based leather alternatives develop from fungal networks in a matter of weeks before being processed into durable material. Orange peel byproducts are being transformed into cellulose-based fibers with a silk-like feel. Algae-derived fibers are further out, still working through the challenges of scaling for commercial production.   This isn’t a sustainability tagline, it’s material science exploring new feedstocks and new production processes, each at a different stage of maturity.   Swipe through for a primer on what these materials are, how they’re made, and where each one still needs to prove itself before it’s ready for large-scale sourcing.   Save this for your next sourcing conversation. Natural fibers aren’t the “traditional” choice at a functional fabric fair but they’re one of the smartest.
Wool regulates temperature and resists odor without a single chemical finish. Cotton and linen breathe in ways synthetics still try to engineer their way toward. And at end of life, they biodegrade instead of shedding microplastics for decades.
Performance doesn’t always mean lab-made. Sometimes it means paying attention to what’s been working for centuries.

When temperatures rise, so do demands.
We expect functional apparel to stay fresh longer, through sport, travel and daily wear. Washing less matters too, saving water and energy while extending a garment’s life. Today’s materials move beyond antimicrobial finishes, using odor-absorbing yarns, bio-inspired solutions and intelligent fibers.
This is the next generation of odor control.

Learning from our own team, three thousand miles from home.
We crossed the Atlantic to spend the day with our New York team at Functional Fabric Fair powered by PERFORMANCE DAYS. Watching them in action, from setup to the final conversation on the floor, sparked plenty of inspiration to bring home.
