Everyone always asks for a “candid” photographer, but I’m not sure if everyone truly knows what that means.

These images, and so many others are a perfect example of what candid really looks like.

By definition, it means “expressing opinions and feelings in an open, honest, and sincere way” but I think most people usually just envision pictures of them laughing and smiling together with relaxed bodies.

Truly capturing candid moments is impacted by my artistic eye in capturing the moment, and has a lot to do with your personalities, environment, and overall vibes!

Now, I’m not saying we can’t create candid moments because we absolutely can, but it’s important to remember to be fully present in the moment and with the people you love.

That is what truly makes a candid moment. 🩷

I arrived early to M & A’s engagement session and was immediately obsessed with all of the phragmites along the edge of parking lot. A few minutes before the session I headed over to our actual location, but I couldn’t spot thinking about how pretty a few photos would look here.

Once we finished up the session I was surprised to hear that they wanted to stop at one other spot along the road as well, so we ended up going to two extra locations!

All three locations turned out to be an absolute hit and gave us stunning photos, which is why I’ll always be the one to try new things or suggest different ideas, even if it means taking a little more time & driving around the entire park to get there! Lol

What do you think, would you be open to trying out a new location, even if it’s in a parking lot?

I have two very exciting announcements to share with you today!! I have been working behind the scenes on adding some amazing experiences for weddings and events and everything is officially in place 😍

The first one is our live, interactive magnet experience (Magnetic Keepsakes for Weddings and Events) which will primarily be run by my younger brother, Gavin, during the events, but will be available for weddings, birthday parties, celebrations, festivals, and any other gatherings that you would love to gift a personalized keepsake for! If I am not shooting, then my husband or I will run it as well!

With our magnet booth, your guests are able to snap or send us their favourite photo of the day, and we will print it off and turn it into a magnet right before your eyes! This has been such a hit, and it really brings something unique to the whole event so I cannot wait to offer this from now on!

The second exciting announcement is that my husband will be joining my team as a videographer! 🎥
This year he has been tagging along to some weddings to gain experience, but he will be officially taking bookings for next year!

Both of these offers will be updated on my website this evening, but if you have any questions at all, I’m an open book.

I cannot wait to hear all of your feedback, and to start these new services! :)

Whewww 😅 The last time I posted online was almost 6 weeks ago but I promise I’ve been busy shooting, editing and taking care of my sweet little babies! 🩷

I have so many gorgeous galleries to share (include this one of M & L’s anniversary session 😍), this summer has been filled with weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, beach & willow tree minis, and of course plenty of family and couples sessions 💕

Fall is officially here and I am ready for all of the autumn colours, chunky sweaters & cozy snuggles in front of my lens. If you’ve been waiting to book a fall session with me, now is the time! 🍁🍂

I’m currently working on sending out final emails for my October brides, and I can’t believe fall is just around the corner now!! We have had such a beautiful summer (like this engagement session that I’m absolutely obsessed with), but these cooler evenings definitely have me anticipating family sessions under colourful maples trees and sweethearts saying “I do” with a beautiful Autumn backdrop 💕

As a photographer I believe it is my job to always scan the room and look for hidden memories for you, your partner, and all of your guests.

I may not know exactly who I’m photographing or what the relationship is to you at times, but I do know that if you’ve invited them to celebrate one of the most memorable days of your lives, then they must be someone you care deeply about.

Looking over my wedding galleries I always see such beautiful photos of your guests and I always wonder… Will the person in the image see this photo of themselves? I truly hope so!

I know not everyone loves their photo being taken, but sometimes it is the people that are closest to us that we don’t have many images of and capturing them in their honest state is something that I think is so special. 🤍

I’m sure you’ve caught the vibe by now, but I loveeee family sessions with a little bit of craziness and a whole lot of love!

Looking back at my sessions, I’ve noticed one thing. I always leave feeling the most energized when everyone shows up relaxed, positive, and open to whatever is thrown our way. & Yes, that includes letting the kids be themselves lol.

So when you’re preparing for your family session, don’t worry about getting everyone to behave perfectly, just come ready to let loose and have some fun!

Here is my advice:

1. Don’t expect perfectly behaved children.

Your kids are going to run, act silly, and probably refuse to look at the camera at least once. They might need a snack, a snuggle, or a little break and that is completely okay with me!

2. Remember that your emotions will show in the images.

You don’t need to know what to do with your hands, how to pose your family, or to tell your kiddos to look at the camera, that is my job!

I’ll guide you, give you prompts, keep things relaxed and fun, and capture everything as we go. Your job is to join in on the fun!

3. Let your kids have some fun with it.

If they want to dance, dance with them.
If they want to run, we’ll run.
If they want to make you laugh, we can start a tickle fight.
If they need to cuddle you, bring them in for a snuggle.

Of course we all want one perfect photo, but authentic ones are just as important to show your families personalities!

4. Focus on eachother instead of the camera.

I know it’s tempting to give all of your attention to the lady running around you with a camera in her hand, but these photos are all about embracing each other and making memories! Play with your kiddos. Hug them. Chase them. Tell them something silly, and don’t forget to show your partner some love too!!

The less everyone is thinking about having their picture taken, the more you’ll see those little moments that actually feel like you! Just come relaxed and ready to have fun, you can leave the rest up to me :)

Happy Friday! Today I’m sharing a sweet review from J & C 💕

During their engagement session we wandered around the beach while they dreamed about their wedding plans and ended it with some fun (and stunning) photos in the creek.

Fast forward to their wedding day, the nervous anticipation was high but once they joined each other for their first touch I could physically see all of their stress wash away.

From walking down the aisle, receiving congratulation hugs from guests, speeches and reception, I could see just how loved they were, and how much they loved one another ❤️

Days like J & C’s is why I absolutely love what I do. Its one thing to cherish your memories, but its even more important to be present and joyful while living through them, just like these two 🤍
