Physical or digital event program, which one wins for you?

Are you someone who loves to flip through the pages, jot notes, and keep a program as a keepsake? Or are you the type who'd rather scan a QR code and have everything on your phone?

Physical programs bring that tangible, elegant touch and a piece guests can hold onto long after the event ends. Digital programs bring the convenience, the easy updates, and the eco-friendly win. Truthfully, we love designing both and still can't pick a favorite.

Every planner on our team has a story about how they got here. This one's from Kimberly, and event planning wasn't even on the radar at first.

"Leaving high school I thought I wanted to be a Social Worker...or a Theatre Major. I didn't get into the acting program so I settled for sociology and psych classes. One month into college I decided Social Work wasn't for me and I quit. I was 17.

I took the year off but had promised my parents I would go back. I had no clue what I wanted to do so I signed up for the 1yr Hotel, Motel, Restaurant Management Certificate. My favourite uncle was a Hotelier and I had met the Dean of the program and really liked her. I figured I would get the certificate and work in hospitality while I figured out what I really wanted out of life. As it turned out... I loved the program. I stayed for the 2yr Diploma, landed a job in hotel sales and the rest is history. 33 years later I'm leveraging decades of experience in hospitality, events and entertainment into a focus on strategic event storytelling and experience design."

Funny how the plans that don't work out can end up leading just where you're meant to be.

Meet Nash, Suzanne's resident hype man!

Nash is friendly, excitable, and always down to play, whether that's with the neighborhood dogs or showering you with kisses. He joined Suzanne's family at 8 weeks old and just celebrated his first birthday in April.

Nash is a rescue from pause4change, an incredible Calgary-based organization doing amazing work for animals in need.

Four days, one incredible group, and a whole lot of full hearts (and bellies) by the end of it.

Spark's Meaghan Carrier had the privilege of managing the International Seed Testing Association's Annual Congress at The Westin Calgary, bringing together the world's leading experts in seed quality control from every corner of the globe. This is the community working behind the scenes to protect the integrity of the seeds our food crops start from, and getting to support their work up close was something special.

From overall project management to on-site delivery, Meaghan handled the details so this group could focus on what mattered most: connecting, learning, and celebrating everything they've accomplished together.

The event highlight was the Gala Dinner, where the dance floor stayed full well into the night. Swipe through for a few of our favorite moments. 🎉 🥂

Meet Ember and Rosie, Jade's two cats.

Ember is 3 years old and 100% orange personality. She talks, she has attitude, and she is highly motivated by food. Ember has been part of the family since she was just 8 weeks old.

Rosie is 8 years old and mostly likes to keep to herself. When she does want to "people," though, she is the sweetest little girl and loves to give head butts. Rosie was adopted from a farm when she was 4 months old.

Two very different personalities, equally loved. 🧡

Day events or night events, which one wins for you?

Are you a golden hour, sunshine on your face, morning coffee kind of person? Or are you the one who lights up once the sun goes down and the night is just getting started? Some people plan their whole event around a mimosa brunch. Others are all about that mood of an after dark glow up.

Day events bring that bright, easy energy and endless options with natural light. Night events bring the mood, the ambiance, and that undeniable main character feel. Truthfully, we love planning both and still can't pick a favorite.
