Meet our Planners: ✨Sue Summers, Event Strategist✨

What brought you to Spark Collective? Anh reached out to me on LinkedIn, after about six years of not connecting due to crazy busy lives. It was like no time had passed. We caught up instantly, picked up right where we left off, and it felt amazing to reconnect. Next thing you know, she’s offering me a job!

What is your favourite part about events? The energy when people come together! I love watching attendees light up while networking, the thrill of on-your-feet problem solving, and all the logistics that go into bringing an event to life. It’s the ultimate mix of creativity, teamwork, and organized chaos, and I absolutely love it.

What is a memorable experience you’ve had in your career? One that always stands out is chatting about farming with Chris Hadfield while he signed books at a conference I produced where he was the keynote speaker. His parents were farmers, and so were mine, so bonding over our farm-kid roots with an astronaut was definitely a “core memory” moment.

What do you think Spark Collective brings to the event prof community? Spark Collective brings a huge wealth of knowledge and experience. With the combined strengths of all our planners, no matter the challenge—big or small—we’ve got you covered.

From powerhouse speakers and inspiring discussions to the moments that mattered just as much — bonding, laughter, and friendships that grew stronger with every shared experience.

We indulged in wine tastings, relaxed with rejuvenating spa time, savoured delicious food, and soaked in every bit of connection this summit created.

✨ Christmas Party 2025 ✨
There’s nothing quite like celebrating the season surrounded by the magic of the Rockies. Hosting Calvert Home Mortgage’s Christmas Party at the stunning Kananaskis Mountain Lodge was a true highlight — from the warm alpine ambiance to the elevated holiday experience we curated for their team.

This family-friendly celebration brought everyone together, little ones included, and the excitement hit a whole new level with a very special visitor… Santa himself! 🎅✨

A night filled with great food, festive moments, joyful families, and the kind of connection that only happens when a team comes together to celebrate a year of hard work. Grateful to bring this beautiful event to life in such an unforgettable setting! 🎄🏔️

Meet the Planner: Kangles, Event Strategist and Producer

What brought you to Spark Collective?
I was drawn to Spark Collective’s collaborative spirit and the opportunity to connect with other passionate event professionals who genuinely support and inspire one another. It’s a space that values creativity, learning, and community — three things I deeply believe in.

What is your favourite part about events?
Seeing an idea transform from concept to experience. There’s something magical about watching all the moving parts come together — people connecting, the energy in the room, and knowing you helped create that moment.

What is a memorable experience you’ve had in your career?
For me, the most memorable moments are the ones where connection shines through — when collaboration turns into genuine relationships and a sense of belonging fills the room. Those are the experiences that remind me why I love what I do.

What do you think Spark Collective brings to the event prof community?
Spark Collective brings connection, collaboration, and a genuine sense of belonging. It’s a reminder that while we’re all busy creating for others, we also need spaces that inspire and recharge us.

Tell us one fun fact about you!
Just one? I have a photographic memory, a built-in human calendar, and can see how an event will end before it’s even on paper… but I still can’t make myself like tomatoes. 🍅

What brought you to Spark Collective?
I love having the freedom to work on new projects and with a variety of clients! I always want to be challenging myself and learning from new opportunities.

What’s your favourite part about events?
Telling stories. I see every event as an opportunity to tell the story of a business, organization, or individual. It might be their whole story or just a specific part — but through every detail, we get to bring that story to life and connect it to their audience.

What’s a memorable experience you’ve had in your career?
My first major non-profit gala! I was so nervous — I worried we’d invest so much and that I might miss something, or that the attendees wouldn’t “get it.” But it was a huge success! That experience made me fall in love with planning non-profit galas and seeing the direct impact they have on organizations doing incredible work.

What do you think Spark Collective brings to the event prof community?
Bringing event professionals together only makes us better. The shared resources, education, and support within this community are invaluable — they fuel growth and create an elevated experience for our clients. Event planners often work solo or on the sidelines of marketing or development teams, but rarely have a team of their own. The Collective gives us that team — even when we’re working on different projects!

Tell us one fun fact about you!
I basically live in a retirement/vacation community! I built a house in a lakeside neighborhood full of retirees — but I figured, why wait to live in a fun, social, recreational spot? I get to play pickleball and join book club with my neighbors in my downtime!
