👭Most of the at the are women, 👭🏾but being comprised of largely women in a female dominated industry is not what I celebrate on International Women’s Day.
What I celebrate is:
👶 Kids popping into our Zoom calls is normal and welcome. Many of our planners are moms to little ones and that’s part of who they are. We embrace it and we don’t separate their identities. We cheer it on, we don’t call it unprofessional.
👭 Two of our planners met through Spark and have since started their own business venture .calgary
Creating a supportive space that fosters female leaders and entrepreneurs is what motivates us.
😷 When our planners get sick, burnt out, or overwhelmed, we don’t celebrate them for “powering through”. Women have been programmed to feel guilty for taking breaks, resting, and prioritizing themselves. We celebrate it when our planners put their health first.
💕 Things don’t always go perfectly and when they do go wrong, no one is left to struggle alone. Whether it’s a last-minute event emergency, a rough client call, or a personal challenge, our planners jump in to help each other. They don’t hesitate, they don’t ask for credit, they just show up for each other.
These may seem like small things on such a big, important day, but this is how we celebrate and how we contribute to progress every day.
Happy International Women’s Day!
