Circa 1965 — Greg Bishop (left) and his childhood friend Rob (right), whose dad worked for Col on the dairy farm. The land was still being used for cattle and crops then; the vineyard was just a dream. Col had bought the property twenty years earlier — run down, overgrown, and full of potential. Four years later, restoration would begin on the old convict-built buildings — the first step toward the Coolangatta Estate we know today.
As Greg recalls: “All of my siblings worked hard in those days — boys milking cows and driving tractors, making hay. Rob and Megs worked hard as well.”
