On Friday afternoon, we found ourselves hiding behind a tree, camera in hand, trying not to give away the surprise. As the sun dipped lower and the gardens glowed, one question was asked, and a new chapter began.

Moments like these remind us that Peninsula House isn’t just a place for weddings and celebrations—it’s where life’s most meaningful memories unfold.

A place shaped by the landscape. At Peninsula House, gardens unfold around a lake, pathways lead through rose arbors, and open spaces invite people to gather, celebrate and connect.

Jack Walter - along with his wife Louise - was deeply involved in community life throughout the early 1900s, contributing to organisations including the local Agricultural Board and Road Board.

Beyond the farm, Jack was involved in a business venture in Bridgetown’s main street between 1904 and 1909, during a period when the town itself was continuing to grow and establish its identity.

Can Bridgetown locals recognise the premises where Jack’s business once operated?

When visited the property she was inspired to paint this beautiful piece after seeing our “Angel’s trumpets” (Brugmansia), pictured here in flower, by our paved terrace.

A glimpse into life at Peninsula House many decades ago.

This photograph shows Keith and Don alongside their father, Jack Russell Walter, whose family played an important role in the early history of both the property and Bridgetown itself.

For close to 150 years, Peninsula House has remained connected to farming, family life and the changing landscape of the South West.
