Just taking a moment tonight to reflect before I head into an awards night in Brisbane that celebrates small Business

Running a business—especially in our region—hasn't been easy. We've been knocked down by floods, rocked by COVID, and pushed in ways we never saw coming. But somehow, here we are… still standing, still showing up, and still building.

I’m proud of what I’ve managed to hold together, but more than anything, I’m proud to be part of a community of business owners who keep going even when it feels impossible. We've all had to dig deep, make tough calls, and grow in ways we never expected.

I look forward to many more years in business in the Northern Rivers

The GoFundMe has reached its goal, and the family has chosen to take it down. They are deeply moved by the love, generosity, and support shown by so many.

Happy International Women's Day!

On International Women’s Day, we recognize and celebrate the incredible resilience, courage, and determination of women everywhere—especially those who step up when the chips are down.

Women in business are more than just entrepreneurs, leaders, and workers. They are problem solvers, innovators, and the backbone of their families and communities. Many juggle multiple roles, balancing business with caregiving, overcoming setbacks, and pushing forward when the odds are stacked against them.

As a business owner in my own community, I’ve experienced firsthand the ups and downs that come with both business and life. There have been challenges that tested my strength, but like so many women, I’ve learned that resilience is what keeps us moving forward.

To the women who take risks, who keep going when things get tough, who support others even when they themselves are struggling—you are seen, you are valued, and you are changing the world.

Today is about acknowledging the strength it takes to rise above challenges, whether in business, in family life, or in the face of adversity. It’s about celebrating those who refuse to back down, who create opportunities not just for themselves but for others, and who prove time and again that resilience is a woman’s greatest asset.

Hartleys Fresh Market @ Ballina Fair Shopping Centre are fully stocked (but no eggs, sorry). we have been working very hard to make sure we were able to get enough stock out of Brisbane with trucks arriving daily.
I have one more truck arriving this afternoon, and that will be my last truck until the other side of this weather system.
