WE’RE HIRING! ☕️👨‍🍳

With our business growing and the summer season just around the corner, we’re looking to grow our team across our two Ballina venues.

We currently have two positions available:

☕️ BARISTA / FOH / ALL-ROUNDER

We’re looking for an experienced café all-rounder who can confidently jump between coffee, FOH, food service and everything in between.

We’re looking for someone who:

✅ Based in Ballina NSW and or the surrounds
✅ Has previous café/hospitality experience (working in Australia preferably)
✅ Can multitask and work well under pressure
✅ Works with speed while maintaining quality
✅ Is passionate about great customer service
✅ Can hit the ground running in a busy environment

Availability:
Tuesday–Friday required, with flexibility for some weekends, public holidays and school holidays.

15–20 hours per week, with the potential for more.

👨‍🍳 CASUAL CHEF

We’re also looking for a casual chef to join our kitchen team, working approximately 2–3 days per week.

• Previous kitchen experience essential
• Breakfast experience is a big plus
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy kitchen
• Pride in quality, consistency and presentation
• Reliable and a great team player

Both roles require flexibility to work between our two Ballina venues as needed.

Job-specific training will be provided, but previous industry experience is essential as we head into our busiest time of year.

“Prawn & lobster brioche roll, scrambled eggs, avocado, radish & fresh dill.”

Fresh, beautiful flavours, perfectly balanced and just the right size for those who don’t love a huge breakfast but still want something filling. And judging by how quickly these flew out today, our customers loved them too! ❤️

Chef Etienne is always surprising us with delicious weekend specials — hopefully this one makes another appearance! 🤞🏼

And a little reminder to our locals… you don’t have to be a motel guest to enjoy our café! We’re independently operated and open to everyone. ☕️

On weekends, Chef Etienne is in the kitchen with his specials, while during the week our cabinet is filled with fresh croissants, bacon & egg rolls, sandwiches, wraps, salads, quiche, home-baked sweets, slices and more.

There’s one question we get asked quite often at The Corner…

“Where do you get your cakes from?” 👀🍰

And when we say “We make them all in-house,” the reaction is usually one of surprise! 😊

But honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

From our cakes and slices to the savoury food we serve, everything at The Corner is homemade. Etienne and I both love cooking and baking, and we really believe you can taste the difference when food is made with care, from scratch.

We bake in small batches, so everything keeps moving, stays fresh and is enjoyed at its best. And one thing we’re particularly proud of — our cakes are never frozen. ❤️

A couple of sweet favourites from our kitchen recently — our Lemon Meringue Tart and Caramel Cheesecake Slice…

There’s always a good reason to make your way to The Corner Café. 🩵

Take our French Toast, for example… beautifully prepared by Chef Etienne, topped with maple syrup, fresh berries and lemon mascarpone. A little indulgence that makes weekend breakfast worth getting out of bed for. 🍓🍋

Located at 95 Cherry Street, Ballina, just outside the hustle and bustle of town and tucked underneath Ballina Homestead Motel, The Corner Café is open to everyone. While we’re attached to the motel, we operate independently — you certainly don’t need to be a motel guest to visit us!

We’d love to welcome more of our local Ballina and surrounding communities to come and enjoy our food, warm service and delicious coffee. ☕️

Our weekend breakfast menu is served Saturday & Sunday from 7:30am–11:30am, with coffee, our home-baked cakes and sweet treats available until 12:30pm.

Walk-ins are always welcome, although we recommend booking ahead for groups of 5 or more.

Safe to say, the feedback has been pretty amazing, so we’re ready to share it with everyone!

Meet Chef Etienne’s BREKKIE BAGEL — a light & fluffy poppyseed bagel with creamy avocado, homemade romesco, chorizo, a perfectly poached egg, pickled onions & our fresh green chermoula herb sauce.

Our regular breakfast favourites are here to stay, but every month we plan to add a new chef’s breakfast special for you to try 😋

Available weekends only, from 7:30am until 11:30am.
