Not every part of running Storied looks like spreadsheets and design choices. Some days it looks like spending a few extra minutes in a quiet chair with a full mug before the inbox opens.

Protecting this time of rest as a bride and a designer has made me better at everything else on my to-do list.

🩵 What would it look like for you to press pause today?

Even though the light said stop, it was a green light for our relationship.

Rewind to March 24, 2018, four years after Ryan and I first met performing together in the passion play He’s Alive, both of us in full biblical garb. That night, he walked through the doors of the Capitol Theatre, our eyes locked, and everything changed. After a decade of singleness, his hugs made me giddy, especially when he came back the next night just to see me.

Being the gentleman he is, he asked my father’s permission the old fashioned way before our first date.

Thanks for saying yes, Dad! 🩵

It was at the red light near Wheeling’s Suspension Bridge where this whole story got started, with our first kiss in his white Ford Ranger. Last fall at our engagement shoot, we snapped a picture at that same red light, because some moments are worth revisiting.

We tucked this story, and seven others like it, into Fun Fact signs for our wedding day, little pieces of us for guests to discover as they celebrated with us.

They never made it up that day. So instead, we’re letting the light stay green a little longer, sharing one story a month all through our first year of marriage. More is coming your way!

Rewind to my engagement and you’d find a bride who was sooo ready. 40-something, finally knew what I liked, finally knew how to budget without crying about it (mostly).

What you’d also find? A bride fielding the same questions on repeat. “How many chairs do we need?” “Where do I stand?” “What’s my cue to walk down the aisle?” All roads led to me. I was basically wedding-planning customer service, minus the cheesy hold music.

Thoughtful in theory. Exhausting in practice.

So here’s my (mostly serious, slightly dramatic) vow: no bride who works with me will pull a solo Q&A session at her own wedding. That’s the whole point of Storied.

Two ways I’ve got your back:
🩵 The Storied Bridal Bestie, your stand-in wing girl for all things wedding
💎 The Storied Wedding Design Experience, where we design a day that’s unmistakably you (no interrogation required).

More on both this week.

One of the most meaningful moments of my wedding planning didn't involve a single vendor. 💐 Instead it included spending an entire afternoon with my mom, my sister, and my best friend, building my bouquet, one hand-dyed sola wood flower at a time, that would I would carry down the aisle.

I chose to use sola wood instead of fresh florals, not just because they last, but because it was a more sustainable choice.

Creating something with your own hands with the ones who have helped shape your story is the part of wedding planning that doesn't get talked about enough. It adds a depth of meaning and purpose behind already carefully curated design choice, and it invites others into your story well before your wedding day.

Not every beautiful moment has to come from a vendor invoice. Some of them come from an afternoon with dyed fingers and a hot glue gun assembly line at the dining room table. One you'll remember for the rest of your life.

Not every detail on a wedding day requires vendor involvement. Some of the details that matter most are the ones built around the people you love.

👩‍🦽‍➡️A location adjustment so my sister could be part of our day.
💍A group photo of rings across generations, with nothing to do with the timeline and everything to do with family.
🩷🧡 Dunkin cups because that's just who we are, and no amount of "elegant tablescape" was going to change that about us.

The special touches that make your day memorable aren't always the ones you can put in a mood board. Sometimes they're just the truest version of you, built right into the day.

Your guests feel it before they see it. Lighting sets the tone of a room/space before a single detail registers consciously.

🕯 Candlelight along a tablescape.
✨The warm glow of a chandelier through an arched window.
💡String lights woven through a floral arch.
☀ Natural light and its reflections

Lighting isn't a finishing touch you add at the end. It's one of the first things your guests will feel when they walk in, so it deserves to be part of the design conversation from the start, not an afterthought.

Every choice on my wedding day traced back to a story:
🚎The trolley
🖼️The pillar signs
🩵The Father-Daughters dance instead of the traditional one.

Story-first design means every detail answers a question:

✨Does this tell our story, or is it just what everyone else does?

Ask that question about your own day and see what shifts.

Officially making it Facebook-official: I'm Bree Kibble now.
Feels a little surreal to type that, if I'm honest.

Names carry more weight than we usually give them credit for, as they often mark a new chapter, or a new belonging. That's part of why our ceremony leaned so heavily on story and meaning in the first place.

Turns out that didn't stop when the "I do" was said. It just kept going, into paperwork and new signatures and still learning how this all fits.

Storied believes every detail has a reason behind it. Apparently that's true for names too.

Grateful, a little emotional about it, and still very much figuring out how to write it in cursive.

So… it’s been a minute. My last post was July 20th, our one month anniversary. Posting consistency has never been my brand, but apparently 2026 wife era has been busy.

Also, funny enough, this felt like the right moment to finally confess something. That laugh in this clip? Not just wedding day joy.

That’s the exact moment Ryan and I both realized I was still wearing my engagement ring right at the start of our vows. Nothing like a little panic to keep our ceremony memorable.

Anyway. I’m back. More posts coming, allegedly.

The most sustainable detail is the one that already means something.

On Earth Day, I keep thinking about how the "something old, something borrowed" tradition was never just about luck. It was about continuity. About honoring what came before you and carrying it forward into something new.

That's pretty beautiful when you think about it. And it turns out, it's also one of the most thoughtful choices you can make for your wedding day.

The brooch that belonged to your grandmother. The pearl necklace that you borrowed from your mom. The hand-sewn doilies your great-grandmother made. These aren't just sentimental touches. They're heirlooms that don't need to be manufactured, shipped, or discarded. They already exist. They already have a story. You're just adding the next chapter.

I'm carrying a few of those pieces into my own June wedding, and every time I look at them, I feel the weight of that in the best possible way. 🥹

So this Earth Day, if you're looking for one small, meaningful way to design with intention, start there. Start with what's already loved.

What's your "something old"? I'd love to hear it in the comments.
