The Slavery Abolition Act took effect across the British Empire on this day, including Canada. Freedom on paper, still years from freedom in practice.

Tonight’s Rainbow Road set with Dread Boss Entertainment 🔊🔥 and The BlacQ(ueer) Collective PEI was curated as The Soundtrack for the Resistance. Which moves through the sound of the Stonewall era. Pride exists because Black and brown trans women, Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera among them, fought back at the Stonewall Inn in 1969. Same refusal to be erased, different century.

Then I’m closing out the night at Be You Bar 🎤, PEI’s first and only gay bar, marking their first year.

Charlottetown!! 👀👀

Street Feast returns this May Long Weekend (May 15-16, 2026), taking over Kent Street in downtown Charlottetown for a two-day block party packed with street eats, live music, performances, and all-around good vibes.

Expect a mix of local food and drinks, live bands, DJs, dance performances, buskers, games, and pop-up experiences happening all weekend long.

Featuring food & drinks from local favourites like HopYard, The Oak Downtown, Salvador Dali Café, PonyBoat Social Club, Abbiocco, Trailside Music Hall, Tivoli Cinema, plus nearby friends Ada Culinary Studio and Farmacy + Fermentary.

All are welcome. $10 entry (19+) includes full weekend access (May 15 & 16). Advance tickets are limited and include a $5 food or drink voucher; door tickets do not. Under 19 are free but must be with a parent/guardian after 8PM.

Book a stay during Street Feast with a participating accommodation and receive two entrance wristbands for the weekend and two $5 food & drink vouchers. Eligible for ages 19 and over only.

Valid photo ID is required for entry. Wristbands must be worn at all times; lost or removed bands require re-entry purchase.
