It occurred to me that I’ve never told MoJo’s story. He is known around here as the Boss Man. He came to live with us 2 years ago this month. His human Mama was my oldest son’s neighbor in Kansas City. Karen fought a very long, hard battle with cancer. When it was apparent that she was not going to win, she had my son ask me if I would take MoJo in to live with us on our land. Of course there was no other answer other than yes, so plans were made and I know it was a huge relief for her. He was her baby after all. Fast forward about 2 years and my son traveled to pick up MoJo when he got the word about Karen’s passing. (My son had moved away 2 years prior) The neighbors all took care of MoJo until he was picked up. He made the adjustment well as he went from living in the city, to having acres to roam in the country. It didn’t take long and he soon worked his way into our hearts. Mojo is a tiny little guy, but has the heart of a lion. He is more “dog” than any cat I’ve ever seen. His favorite food is shrimp and he is sure to show up and yell at you when it’s being cooked. He sleeps on half of my pillow most nights and is my constant shadow now. Last season he learned that his favorite place to nap was under the dahlias . I swear he has been checking on them daily since planting this year. Today he settled for napping near the zinnia while I direct sowed another row. I just smiled knowing all is well in MoJos world again. Just what his mama wanted. MoJo is extremely social, so If you come to the U-Pick you just might get to meet him!
