Here's a story about a ladder. Yes, a ladder.....
The old barn on our property was standing tall when we moved our farm here in 2021. (Picture 1)
We considered refurbishing it to make it the event barn, however; the cost to get it upright again was astronomical! ๐ช
We grabbed barn wood, old items, signs, etc. that were in the barn, but by 2023, it was caving in and unrecognizable on the west side and extremely dangerous - so it had to come down.
We were so sad that we couldn't get in there to salvage the hay loft ladder. (Picture 2) it was the ONE thing we wanted the most, but we had to accept that we would probably never see it in one piece again. As the barn came down, it was a sad moment but a necessary one.
As we watched the barn fall, the ladder became a distant memory. Later that day, we looked at the rubble, we saw it..... to our surprise, the ladder seemed to be in tact on the bottom of the rubble! We couldn't believe it! Our 15-foot ladder was IN ONE PIECE - it never broke or split at all!!!
Huge thank you to MacFarlane Excavating for carefully removing the ladder from the rubble.
It is now the focal point and light fixture of the Watering Trough Bar in our event barn! (Picture 3).
This ladder is a beautiful piece that we will cherish in our event barn forever!
