Compass Studios is a photography and videography company specializing in weddings, families, corporate / commerical, real estate, and much more. You!

HELLO and thanks for stopping by! We are a husband and wife photography and videography company in the Northern Virginia / DC area. We specialize in weddings, portraits, real estate, and more. Whether you want your love story captured artistically, the perfect family portrait to frame, or to sell your home above asking price, we are your dream team! We truly believe our chemistry when working together reflects in the work we produce. So what's our favorite part about this job? Besides being able to wear pajamas while working from home? Meeting new clients every week is what we live for. Once Ryan tells a cheesy joke during a shoot, we see shoulders start to relax, genuine smiles form, and an effortless bond created. So now to the fun stuff! When we are not working, we LOVE to explore the outdoors whether it's backpacking, running, biking, or photographing wildlife/nature. National-Park-chasing has been a huge thrill, and privilege, for us. In 2016 we lived in the wild for 21 days and hiked the famous 220-mile John Muir Trail in California. Check out our two latest travel videos:
John Muir Trail (2016): https://vimeo.com/277867758/00987931e4
Tetons/Yellowstone/Glacier (2020): https://vimeo.com/448398183

You can also check out Ryan’s incredible wildlife photography journey here: https://www.ryancoreywildlife.com

Don't get us wrong though. When we are not doing outdoorsy things we are snuggling with our two fat cats and shepherd-husky on the couch, binge watching Netflix and pretty much eating constantly. Please enjoy having a look around and do not hesitate to shoot us an email. Can't wait to meet you!

Keri & Matt! What a happy couple - they truly embraced the moment and having the time of their lives with their guests vs focusing on the photos. It was an upbeat, humid, sweaty, and fun day.

Our Fall has just begun, but boy it’s been crazy busy already. We are never disappointed when we return to Stone Tower..it just seems to get more and more gorgeous every time we go (ESP when the hydrangeas are in peak bloom).. Alyssa and Nick were such a fun couple to work with. They successfully planned their 250-guest wedding from Chicago. Since they didn’t do a first look, it was a bit crazy after the ceremony getting all of the portraits in around the grounds, but we hit all the iconic spots they wanted! Our favorite moment was probably all of the surprise coordinated dances during the reception.

Who says your engagement photos can’t look stunning in harsh lighting? We know how to work that sun!! Grace smartly scheduled her hair and makeup trial before this session, too - doesn’t she look gorgeous? Almost as gorgeous is their sweet dog who we had to get in some shots as well.

Wow, these azaleas! We love that Meadowlark gardens offers different blooms each month of the year. Each time we go, we are able to explore and photograph in different backdrops across the vast grounds. This sweet couple is getting married in Fall of 2027..which is already filling up!

A repeat family of ours - from weddings to newborns. This session featured their new beautiful home, with their new beautiful baby girl, who let us place her in a beautiful bed of flowers!

How lucky is this couple that their wedding happened to line up with peak cherry blossoms blooming in DC and at Meadowlark Gardens!! They are so deserving. Friday March 27th was our longest wedding gig yet..but never a dull moment from morning to midnight. Jacob (groom) even celebrated his 30th birthday after the wedding reception! It was such a fun day with an awesome group of people. From Jacob’s cute cat in his apartment, to Katie and Jacob’s heartfelt hand-written vows during the ceremony, to cherry blossom petals flying in the wind, to an enormous cookie exchange table, and many happy tears..we were lucky to be a part of this day.
