-A Route 66 Centennial Exhibition by Randy Bacon and Heidi Herrman

Wednesday, April 29 – Saturday, July 4, 2026 C-Art Gallery

Opening during Springfield’s Route 66 Centennial Celebration

A powerful artistic tribute to America’s most iconic highway

In honor of the 100th anniversary of Route 66, husband and wife artists Randy Bacon and Heidi Herrman present Two Voices, One Road, a deeply personal and visually compelling exhibition exploring the enduring spirit, memory, and mythology of America’s most legendary highway.

Opening April 29, 2026, during Springfield’s official Route 66 Centennial Celebration, the exhibition will be held at C-Art Gallery in Springfield’s historic Commercial Street district, located along the original Route 66 corridor.

As partners in both life and artistic practice, Bacon and Herrman bring distinct yet deeply connected perspectives to the same historic subject. This landmark exhibition creates a visual dialogue between two artistic voices—one expressed through Bacon’s black-and-white photographic portraiture of place, the other through Herrman’s encaustic and textile-based mixed media works that transform photographic imagery into layered, tactile objects of memory and presence.

Together, their work reflects not only a shared reverence for Route 66, but a shared commitment to storytelling, material, and the emotional resonance of the American landscape.

Meet NSP Artist Alexa Herman, whose work is currently on view at C-Art Gallery.

From the ethereal blue of an ultrasound to the quiet humor of a cat painting, Alexa Herrman captures the unexpected poetry of daily life. Her acrylic works merge wit, tenderness, and reflection—turning ordinary moments into meditations on identity, motherhood, and resilience. Now residing in the UK while her husband serves our country, Herrman draws fresh inspiration from distance, adaptation, and discovery abroad. These experiences deepen her perspective and provide new fuel for her evolving practice. Whether chronicling pregnancy, loss, or simple stillness, her paintings hold space for becoming. Herrman’s brushwork remains both intimate and honest, revealing persistence not as perfection, but as presence.
✨ See Alexa Herrman’s evocative paintings in “Nevertheless, She Persisted,” now at C-Art Gallery through November 29th.

Check out these incredible large-scale molds for our Springfield 66 Shield Sculptures — aren’t they AMAZING?!

Did you know each sculpture will stand 68" tall and 80" wide? That’s some serious Route 66 spirit in the making.
