Taking a little vacation this weekend and next, August 29 and September 5. So we won't be seeing you all at the Whitley County Farmers Market. We will be back for September 12. That leaves 2 Saturdays after that for the market and we will be moving indoors. Stay tuned for dates!

New mineral tubs arrived today. They seem to like them. 2 new full fresh buckets, 1 older one is almost gone and the salt licks were all washed away in the rain. We will get new salt licks tomorrow.

It won't be long and the outdoor market season will be over. But not to worry, we will be doing the indoor market too. For Saturday, Aug 8, we will be at Whitley County Farmers Market with lots of Bison meat. Bison Cheesesteak Egg Rolls, short ribs, ground, brisket, ribeye steaks! Tonya will have lots of new beaded earings and decor. It's all packed and ready to go. We are restocked on Indiana Sunflower oil. Looking forward to seeing you all Saturday! With a little more than 10 years raising bison it seems we know a lot about our animals. However, we always have to plan for the unexpected. Speaking with a cattle guy a couple weeks ago who wanted to know more about bison, I shared how Roundup may work in the coming days. He looks me in the eyes and says "You mean you have to be strategic when you handle these animals?" 😂 Yep "Every time!",we responded. This past weekend was the craziest! Some of us got hurt but no one went to the ER. So today, the start of a change in our handling system layout. Moved the Hexagon area, opened it up for a future gate, and also opened the East end for a future gate. Animals waited and watched patiently. Then they were allowed to come in and check it out. They roamed around for a while, checked out the new layout and then formed a line at the water tank.
