Marching band doesn’t have a JV team, it doesn’t have a freshmen team, it doesn’t have bench warmers or reserve. Every single performer is a starter from day one. “Everyone counts because everyone counts”.

“The thing about band is nobody rides the bench,” said Christopher King, who has been director of the Prattville High School Band since 2013. “Everybody’s playing. And, you know, in sports, there’s usually one object and who can do something with that object gets to possess that object, whether it be throw, kick, hit, whatever. In band, everybody has the ball. Everybody has an object. Everybody has to perform. Everybody has to be on.”

After School Central is a great program that serves our students and our community, and most of their high school leadership group is made up of band students! Have a great year ASC!!!

We had an awesome evening of training with our 26/27 SERVE team! ASC wouldn’t be what it is without them. We are so thankful!

Band camp 2026 is in the books! Congratulations to our students on completing over 80 hours of training camp before school even begins! During our two week camp we were able to learn our ENTIRE 2026 production “Vignette de Macabre” which we were able to preview for our community today. Thanks so much to everyone who joined us for our first performance! Well done everyone!!

A huge thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped provide and serve meals during band camp! Keeping a group of hardworking (and hungry!) band students fed is no small task, and we truly appreciate everyone who donated food, gave their time, and helped make meals run smoothly.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support you give our students and the Whitko Marching Pride. Thank you for being such an important part of our band family!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our America 250 Community Band! This group is made up of 19 students and 15 family, friends, alumni, and community members, including a two administrators at Whitko! We appreciate your support and contributions Tonay help made this a memorable event for our community!

It's Show Day! Today our students will be joined by family, friends, alumni, community members, and staff members in a large community band to celebrate America's 250th birthday! We'll be performing in downtown Columbia City beginning at 6:30 PM with the National Anthem and a medley of the songs of our armed services, and concluding the program with set of patriotic music. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy choirs, handbells, dramatic readings, and our very own community band!
