But before you pull up, here are 3 quick Po’Boy fun facts you might not know 👇
📜 Fun Fact 1 – The Name “Po’Boy”
Back in 1929 in New Orleans, two brothers who owned a sandwich shop started feeding streetcar workers who were on strike and had no money. Whenever one walked in they’d say, “Here comes another poor boy.” The sandwiches they made for them became known as “poor boys”… which eventually turned into “Po’Boys.”
🥖 Fun Fact 2 – The Bread Matters
A real Po’Boy is traditionally served on New Orleans–style French bread — crispy on the outside and soft on the inside so it can hold all that filling without falling apart.
🥬 Fun Fact 3 – “Fully Dressed” Is the Way to Go
In New Orleans, when you order a Po’Boy “Fully Dressed,” it means it comes dressed with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and mayo (we use Chef Sean’s secret sauce instead, a Seattle twist) — the classic way locals enjoy it.
Now that you know the history… it’s time to taste the tradition 😮🔥
