🎭 It's Night Two of Fussy Cloud Puppet Slam's Volume 28: What In The Gay Hell?

Tonight features two full-length puppet spectaculars ready to sn**ch your soul and your wig:

“UNRAVELING” – By Shadow Girls Cult. A cinematic shadow puppet experience that blurs the line between the sacred and the surreal. It weaves together poignant tales that encompass longing, loneliness, identity, grief, and the q***r experience through a surreal lens. The show is performed entirely live with two performers and incorporates 3 overhead projectors, over 200 shadow puppets, shadow masks, live animation techniques, human silhouettes, & liquid light techniques to create haunting dreamscapes.

“Church of the Auntie Christ” – Welcome to church! This glam gospel tale stars local drag weirdo Miss Texas 1988 as a mixed-up Christian woman who winds up in a “church” of q***rs, choir leaders, and peculiar sunday-school students. Come for the communion, stay for the homoeroticism. The Church of the Auntie Christ returns… again!

Whether you’re a puppet-loving heretic or just here for the chaos, come laugh, cry, and maybe repent at the q***r puppet cabaret you didn’t know your soul was craving.

🎭 Big changes at Theatre Off Jackson!

After 18 months of incredible leadership, Pamala Mijatov has stepped down as Executive Director to spend more time with family. We’re so grateful for her dedication to TOJ’s mission and her many contributions - including a major grant win with the Allen Family Foundation to renovate our upstairs, and a stellar season with our resident companies.

Stepping in as Interim Executive Director is TOJ's current Board President Susan Lieu! 🎉 A longtime co-producer, consultant, and volunteer, Susan brings heart, vision, and deep TOJ roots to this role. She’ll lead us through this exciting transition as we search for a permanent Executive Director in late 2025.

As TOJ Co-founder and former Executive Director Patti West says “Pamala's passion for the theatre community cannot be understated. We are grateful for her contributions and wish her all the best. I feel confident with Susan Lieu at the helm to guide us into Theatre Off Jackson’s next ‘act.’ For the past six years, she has been incredibly invested in the TOJ community. If it’s anything like her one-woman show, her consulting work for us in the past, or her time as Board President, we are guaranteed to be delighted.”
