10,000 hours? I passed that a long time ago.

There’s something about doing this for so many years that you get to a point where you don’t really have to think about it anymore. You just feel it.

When I’m really locked in with a crowd, the songs just start coming to me. One record gives me an idea for another, then another. I start getting creative with the mixes, taking chances, trying things I hadn’t even thought about before.

It’s like an athlete being in the zone. You’re not thinking about every move. You just react. Your instincts take over and everything starts flowing.

That’s my favorite place to be behind the decks. Completely locked in, having fun, and feeding off the energy in the room.

Never gets old.

Three weddings. Three days. A whole lot of miles. And we’re not done yet!

We kicked off this marathon weekend Friday at Bernardus Lodge in Carmel celebrating Paris & Jack, headed up to Boonville yesterday for Andrea & Sandy, and today we’re back at one of our favorite venues, Nella Terra Cellars, to close things out with Chris & Michelle!

Always great to be back at Nella Terra, where we’re proud to be a preferred entertainment vendor. We know this property inside and out, and we’re ready to make some magic happen tonight!

Let’s talk ceremony sound. Because looking good means nothing if nobody can hear you!

We’ve all been to that wedding. Beautiful couple, gorgeous setting, officiant starts speaking…and you can’t hear a thing. You’re sitting there thinking, “She said I do, I guess?” 😂

And I KNOW some wedding planners reading this have experienced microphone dropouts during ceremonies, even with some of their favorite DJs!

That’s exactly why I use the system I do.

My ceremony rig isn’t the simplest or cheapest setup, but it’s built for reliability, flexibility, and exceptional sound.

Here’s what’s inside:

🔊 EV EVOLVE 50 speakers: One or more depending on the space, positioned for clear, balanced coverage.

🎚️ Allen & Heath CQ-18T digital mixer: Individual EQ and compression on microphones so voices sound clear, natural, and consistent. Plus enough channels to accommodate live musicians and instruments when needed.

🎤 Sennheiser EW-DX wireless system: Four channels with four omnidirectional lavalier microphones and four handhelds available. Different ceremony configurations? We’re ready.

📡 RF Venue external antenna: Helps maintain strong wireless reception and minimize the risk of those dreaded microphone dropouts.

Another important detail? We typically set up in the BACK or off to the side.

Why? Because your ceremony photos should feature the couple and that beautiful setting, NOT a bunch of DJ equipment in the background! We keep our gear discreet without sacrificing sound quality.

Is all this equipment necessary to produce good ceremony audio? Nope.

But you’re not hiring me for good. You’re hiring me for GREAT.

The ceremony is the most important part of the wedding day. Every vow, every laugh, every emotional moment deserves to be heard clearly.
