Jade Creates Welcome to DLC Photography's page! What is DLC you ask? DLC are the initials of my father, the late Darrell Lee Comstock. pretty much whatever!

All throughout my life he taught me to be the best I can be, work hard to achieve your dreams and to never give up. In December of 2008 my father lost his fight to Lung cancer. My photography is my gift to his memory. I am a graduate in Agricultural Communications and Journalism at the great Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. I love taking pictures of people, animals, places, things.. It is

my goal as your photographer to provide you with a positive and fun expeirence! Getting your photos taken should be fun and exciting, not something to fear. I love people and making them happy. Let's make you one of them. We have this hope like an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. Hebrews 6:19

You’re hiring me for the photos. But you’re getting a whole lot more than that.

After 15 years and hundreds of weddings, I’ve learned that being a good wedding photographer has just as much to do with what happens between the photos.

It’s knowing when we need to move things along and when we have plenty of time.

It’s fixing the dress, buckling the shoe, finding the missing boutonniere and wrangling the family member who somehow disappeared exactly when we need them. 😂

It’s knowing when you need direction and when I need to back up and let you live the moment.

And when something inevitably doesn’t go exactly according to plan? You shouldn’t have to worry about whether we’re still going to get the photos you’ve been dreaming about.

You get to be at your wedding.

I’ll worry about the rest.

A little Sunday reminder that your photos don’t have to be perfect to be worth taking.

Your kids can be wild.
Your fiancé can swear he’s “bad at pictures.”
Your toddler can decide halfway through that they are absolutely DONE.
The wind can blow.
Your hair can move.
You can laugh too hard and scrunch your nose.

Honestly, those are usually the parts I love the most.

I’ll help with where to stand, what to do with your hands, where the good light is, and all the little things you’re worried about.

But I don’t want to photograph a perfectly polished version of your life.

I want the laughing-until-you-can’t-breathe, kids-climbing-all-over-you, wind-in-your-hair, this-is-actually-us version.

Because those are the photos that get better with time.

Senior pictures don’t have to feel awkward.

You don’t need to know how to pose. You don’t need to show up knowing exactly what to do with your hands. And you definitely don’t need to turn yourself into some Pinterest version of a senior session.

That’s my job.

Your job is to show up as yourself.

We’ll choose locations that make sense for you, outfits you actually feel good in, and create a gallery with a little bit of everything. The photos your mom is going to want all over the house AND the ones you’ll actually want to post.

I’ve been photographing seniors for years, and one of my favorite parts is figuring out what makes each session feel completely different from the last.

Class of 2027, I’m booking fall senior sessions now.

Hi, I’m Jade 👋

It’s been a minute since I’ve properly introduced myself around here, and a lot has changed since the last time I did.

I’ve been photographing people for 15 years now, and somewhere along the way this job became about so much more than taking pretty pictures.

I’ve photographed couples becoming families. Babies turning into big kids. Seniors stepping into entirely new chapters. Wedding days, ordinary Tuesdays and so many little pieces of life in between.

And becoming a mom myself has made me appreciate those pieces even more.

I know how quickly the baby changes. How your toddler somehow looks completely different than they did six months ago. How easy it is to keep waiting for life to be a little less chaotic before getting in the picture.

So these days, I’m a lot less interested in perfect and a lot more interested in you.

The laugh you do when you’re actually laughing. The way your kid reaches for you. The nervous excitement before walking down the aisle. The wind messing up the hair we just fixed.

That’s the stuff I want to keep for you.

When I’m not behind a camera, I’m a wife and mom of two, K-State fan, national park lover, gym regular, coffee drinker and increasingly determined from-scratch baker.

I’m based in Kansas, I happily travel, and I photograph weddings, seniors, families, maternity, newborns and all the good stuff in between.

Basically, if you have a season of life you never want to forget, I’d love to photograph it.

So whether you’ve been here for 10 years or 10 minutes, hi. I’m really glad you’re here.
