Jade Creates Welcome to DLC Photography's page! What is DLC you ask? DLC are the initials of my father, the late Darrell Lee Comstock. pretty much whatever!

All throughout my life he taught me to be the best I can be, work hard to achieve your dreams and to never give up. In December of 2008 my father lost his fight to Lung cancer. My photography is my gift to his memory. I am a graduate in Agricultural Communications and Journalism at the great Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. I love taking pictures of people, animals, places, things.. It is my goal as your photographer to provide you with a positive and fun expeirence! Getting your photos taken should be fun and exciting, not something to fear. I love people and making them happy. Let's make you one of them. A little Freeland family sweetness for your feed today!

While I have your attention, let’s talk about a few things because November is sneaking up on us FAST!

First, I still have November dates available! If you’re hoping to squeeze in family photos around Thanksgiving or even get a session scheduled around Christmas, now is the time to get on my calendar. Those holiday weeks tend to fill up quickly, and I would hate for you to miss out!

Second, my Fall Heirloom Sessions are coming up these next two Sundays! These are perfect if you’re wanting updated photos without committing to a full session. Quick, easy, and full of beautiful images you’ll love for years to come!

And one last little housekeeping note! If you’ve reached out about a session and haven’t heard back from me, PLEASE check your junk or spam folder! I respond to every inquiry, but sometimes my emails decide to take a little detour into the spam folder. If you still don’t see anything, don’t hesitate to reach out again. I promise I’m not ignoring you!

Good things take time.
Real skills must be practiced over and over and over again until to the untrained eye it looks easy.
There are 16 years between these two photos. That’s thousands and thousands of repetitions, mistakes, coaching, classes, tutorials, clients, experiments, chances, yeses, nos, tears, joy, pain and a lot of damn hard work. I don’t take a single booking for granted, not the brand new client or the one who is booking for the 10th time. I am someone who didn’t hold a job for more than a few months and here I am 16 years later still committed to this. I am proud of how hard I have worked and where I have brought my work. I am thankful to God for the skill, passion and every bit of business He gave me. I am humbled every time a person asks me to capture a moment in their lives. It may look easy or like anyone could do it, but I have seen enough people call it and give up to know that’s simply not true. If you’re still here reading- thank you. Thank you for giving me the time. To share my heart and passion with you. It means more than you will ever know.

Along this photography journey there have been many that took a chance on me. That came back. That gave me confidence early on. One of those people was Sara. She chose me early on and let me capture multiple moments in her life for her. I’ll never forget that. Since college, she’s been living and serving in LA, so my chances to get to capture moments for her have not been existent. So imagine my joy and surprise when she popped up with a message asking me to capture her maternity session for baby number two while she was visiting Kansas. The answer was, of course, yes. And here’s that result.
So thank you for believing in me, Sara. Then and now. It means more than you will ever know.

There’s just something special about getting married on land that’s a part of your family.

TJ and Ella celebrated their wedding day surrounded by their closest family, overlooking the beautiful Smoky Hills on Ella’s family land near Kanopolis, Kansas.

It was intimate, meaningful, and absolutely beautiful. And in true Kansas fashion, the wind made sure to show up for the celebration too! We may have had to fight a few gusts, but goodness, those views were worth it.

I love a big wedding day, but there’s something equally wonderful about slowing things down, keeping it simple, and celebrating your love in a place that already holds so much meaning.

Congratulations, TJ and Ella! Thank you for letting me be part of such a special day!
