RocHaha Clown Festival RocHaha Clown Festival is an annual 5-day festival presenting theatrical clowning workshops and performances.

RocHaha also runs The Auguste Roost, a vibrant community movement studio located in downtown Rochester, NY hosting clown classes and more. RocHaha Clown Festival is a newly formed, annual 5-day festival presenting contemporary theatrical clowning workshops and performances. Our program embraces clowning in all its forms; multi-disciplinary, wordless, circus-theatre, puppetry/animation, object theatre, mime, live art, and physical theatre. RocHaha Clown Fest was founded by Katherine Marino and Ashley Jones in 2024 to combine the talents of Rochester’s own burgeoning clown community with award-winning world-renowned clowns and physical theatre makers from across the globe. We are excited to present our explosively inventive program of subversive, silly visual performance to tempt artists and audiences alike out of their comfort zones and become the home of contemporary theatrical clown in Western New York.

Play. Devise. Present. Rework.
You’ll create bits in record time, get into your body, follow your own unique sense of play and the once you’ve made something you like… you BLOW IT ALL UP and try again.

Get in your head… and THEN get the heck outta it.

Fish wants to become a person.

Meet Funmi Adejobi - Nigerian-American clown, writer and professional silly-goofy-time enthusiast. They’re coming to RocHaha with the solo show FISH.

The problem?
Being human is HARD.
First, this fish has to learn how to walk.
Then talk.
Then somehow navigate the crippling anxieties of being alive in this stupid flesh suit.

You know. Normal human stuff.

Created and performed by Funmi Adejobi and directed by Chris Manley, FISH debuted in 2025 before runs at the Edinburgh Fringe and Philly Fringe.
Now the fish is coming to Rochester.

Before Red Bastard takes over the RocHaha stage, Eric Davis is spending two full days teaching you the art of bouffon.
So… what is bouffon?

It’s grotesque play. Mockery. Parody. Satire. Exaggeration.
It’s finding pleasure in what’s ugly, ridiculous, uncomfortable and completely inappropriate - then turning it into a performance.
Bouffon gives the performer permission to poke at the world, expose its absurdities and laugh at the things we’re normally told to leave alone.

The World laughs at the Clown, but the Bouffons laugh at the World!
