Well hello, October! 😈 In celebration of all things spooky, it feels like the perfect time to finally share some pics & clips from Rigo & Kevin’s haunting lovefest last January in Austin.

Dracula met his Wolfman on the dance floor, so naturally, a specially choreographed first dance was part of their big day. They chose “Only You” by Savage, a stellar ’80s throwback. Rigo donned a glittery vampire cape for the moment, and we finished their dance with a vampire-bite dip! 🧛🏻‍♂️

If you know me, you know I love all things Halloween and ’80s music, so I was beyond thrilled to play a small part in this spooktacular wedding. 🖤

Of all the galleries I’ve seen this year, this one stands out as one of the most intentional and unique, and I just HAVE to show you more than their dance. Everything about Rigo & Kevin’s day was carefully curated to reflect who they are as a couple and maximize the fun and flair. From a floral runway for guests to signing bats, fang party favors and THAT VEIL 😍🕸️ … no spellbinding detail was overlooked.

Some followers get dizzy. Some say, “Spin me less.” Heather said, “SPIN ME MORE!” 😆🌪️

Scott & Heather’s dance was so successful in part because the process of creating their choreography was so honest and collaborative. They didn’t hold back from sharing what they wanted their first dance to look like. We tinkered, adjusted, and analyzed every detail until this dance was completely THEIRS. They worked hard and practiced consistently. And then they danced it flawlessly on their wedding day.😍

Your first dance should be a reflection of your partnership. It should be created around your strengths (both individually and collectively) and, most importantly, it should be FUN to dance because you’re obsessed with it.

What makes a first dance special isn’t the steps. It’s the feeling and love behind them. 🤍

Start with an acoustic or stripped-down version of your song for that intimate, romantic first dance…

Then let the music shift, bring in the full version, and invite your friends and family onto the dance floor. 🪩

It’s still your first dance, but now it becomes the moment the whole party begins.

It’s also a great option for couples who want to spend a little less time with all eyes on them and get their guests out of their seats and onto the dance floor. 🙌🏼

Shannon is such a bubbly, fun-lovin’ girl that this remix was the perfect match for her playful personality. And it still gave Kellen a chance to show off those amazing side lunges. 🤩

These two did everything right. They started learning their dance early and kept the choreography manageable, which gave them the freedom to relax and be fully present during their special moment.

Neither had any previous dance experience, and in just a few lessons, they turned their wedding dance into something so fun and memorable. 🤍

It’s September! And this month marks 6 months (half a year!) of lessons at the Abernethy Center. It has truly been a dream to teach in this beautiful, inspiring space. 🤍

And honestly? We think a first dance lesson should feel a little like a date night😘

That’s what makes this location so perfect✨You can grab a drink or dinner nearby (at , or at ), head over to the Abernethy, step into the ballroom, and spend an hour dancing with your fiancé under the chandeliers.

It’s one of our favorite ways to turn wedding planning into something you actually get to enjoy together.

The biggest thank you to the Abernethy staff for your warmth, hospitality and partnership and a special shoutout to Lucas & Miranda (one of our very first couples at the Abernethy🥰) for letting us feature them in this video. They’re getting married this weekend! 🥂💍

There’s something so special about the final lesson before a wedding. 🤍

After months of learning, practicing, laughing, getting the footwork right, and putting all the pieces together, our couples are finally ready.

And that’s our favorite part.

Because the goal of wedding dance lessons isn’t to give you one more thing to worry about on your wedding day. It’s to help you feel prepared enough that when your song starts, you can forget about the choreography and just be there with each other.

So while these fiances may still be stressing over RSVPs, seating charts, and all the other last-minute wedding to-dos, their first dance won’t be one of them.

Some couples just have a way of making the world disappear when they dance - and Ian & Nicole were exactly that.

From the very first lesson, every movement they shared drew you deeper into their love story. They radiated an essence of calm joy and oozed infectious romance. Their first dance was a timeless waltz to ”(I Love You) for Sentimental Reasons” by Nat King Cole, and it couldn’t have suited them more.

The cherry on top was the unmistakable otherworldly beauty of the Griffin House. We have more couples celebrating their weddings here this year than at any other venue and it’s easy to see why.
