Southern Thunder Fireworks come see us We are Larry and Tricia (Abbott) Brown, we are the new owners of Southern Thunder Fireworks, which has been in Larry's family for over 47 years.

Jim Sliger and Larry Brown (Larry's Dad) started in the fireworks business in Dunkirk, Indiana in 1977 on North Street. Over the years the business has had several different names, but for the past 30 years it has been Southern Thunder Fireworks. Formerly, owned and operated by Jim and Kathy Sliger. We will remain at the same location, 227 W. Water St., Portland, Indiana. In 2023, Jim passed away

leaving us to keep the family tradition alive. We look forward to serving you with all of your fireworks needs, small or large. We take great pride in offering our community the largest selection and the best deals on fireworks. We also look forward to serving our community by providing special events and sponsorships.

Southern Thunder Fireworks has been asked to sponsor the November 15th breakfast at the Portland Elks.
We will be supplying all the items needed to put this event on.
So please show your support by planning on attending the all you can eat breakfast November 15, 2025 from 730am-noon. All proceeds helps the Secret Families Christmas Charity of Jay County with over 150 familys/699 individuals (last years numbers). Check their page out for more events and ways you can volunteer and help this great cause.
