Our second Cleveland Person of Gear, Goat, has taken up a new project that we're very proud of! He's putting together a zine, by hand, called Dirty Rag!

Goat tells us, "Dirty Rag is a handmade zine that is meant to be a celebration and record of the leather and kink zine at the current moment. Collecting stories, art, event, and memories from the very people that make being right here right now so wonderful. Preserving it in a physical media that social media companies can't take from us at a whim."

Goat will be selling copies at events, like last night at Gear Night at The Stallion. Ask him about it when you see him next!!

Daddy Andy's cat, Sterling Fluffy pants, wanted to get in on the Bare It All fun!! He's a little fluffier than Goat's cat Jareth. But that's okay because Bare It All loves ALL body types, sizes, colors, and presentations. At the end of the day it's about celebrating nakedness and sexuality as a WHOLE.

🐐 GET TO KNOW GOAT | Beyond the Sash

A title is more than a sash, a backpatch, or a moment in the spotlight. It's an opportunity to serve, to lead, and to help shape the community we share.

For our new Cleveland Person of Gear, GOAT, that responsibility is something he takes seriously.

"With the visibility and recognition that comes with a title, I owe to the community to be an example of how to act and conduct myself within it."

For GOAT, that means making space for others, leading with honesty, and being willing to have difficult conversations when they're necessary.

He also has a great deal of admiration for Cleveland's ability to come together in support of a common cause.

"We're amazingly good at rallying together for a common cause. No matter what sort of differences, issues, or disagreements we might have. We'll all come together to support each other and the good work we want to do."

But GOAT also believes there's an opportunity for our community to look a little closer to home.

While he celebrates the incredible charitable work our community does, he wants us to remember the people standing beside us who may be struggling.

"There's been a lot of times when I've watched friends and loved ones scrape everything they can together to come out and support, and then go home to an empty fridge and bills they can't pay."

It's a powerful observation, and an important reminder that community support doesn't always need to come in the form of a large fundraiser or a donation to an organization.

Sometimes it begins with recognizing the needs of the people right next to us.

"Everyone loves putting big numbers up for charity and it's important work to do, but we need to make sure our friends and family are taken care of and there's a lot we can do collectively to help."

As for how he'll measure the success of his title year, GOAT isn't focused on numbers, accolades, or recognition.

Instead, he's focusing on learning, experiencing, and creating.

"If I can say with confidence that I have spent this year learning, doing, and creating as much as I can make I will be satisfied."

We look forward to seeing where that journey takes him, and we're excited to have GOAT representing Cleveland in the year ahead.

🐐 GET TO KNOW GOAT | Finding Community, Building Belonging

For Cleveland Person of Gear GOAT, the leather and kink communities have provided more than a place to explore his interests. They've given him a place to grow.

His journey began around 2015, when an ex invited him to attend Akron's Purple Rose Society. She wanted someone to accompany her so she would feel more comfortable exploring something new.

GOAT went along expecting simply to keep her company. Instead, he discovered something special.

"I came out just expecting to keep her company, and found a beautiful community of people who supported me and allowed me the freedom to grow."

That experience continues to shape how he views belonging.

For GOAT, inclusion isn't just about opening the door. It's about making people feel genuinely wanted once they walk through it.

"If someone recognizes that I'm new to a space, and make a point to come over and welcome me in. It does a lot for me feeling like I'm wanted there, and more likely to come back."

It's a simple gesture, but one that can make an enormous difference.

GOAT also believes there's tremendous value in bringing different generations of our community together.

He sees older generations as having important lessons to share about resilience, perseverance, and building a movement from the ground up.

And he believes younger generations can offer equally meaningful perspectives on identity, change, and respecting experiences that may differ from our own.

His guiding principle?

"Being in a community together means that everyone should always be open to learning about the experiences of others regardless of any differences."

It's a reminder that the strength of our leather community isn't simply in the traditions we preserve, but also in the people we welcome and the things we're willing to learn from one another.
