Hello All,
In addition to the various events detailed in the last email, here are some other updates concerning the club.
Member Vagel Keller will be June's presenter at our History Series event. The date will be Thursday, June 26th and Vagel will be covering not only the history of the AHYP club (and it's fascinating in its own right), but also about the area surrounding the club. Did you know the one and only Mae West, who once said "To err is human, but it feels divine.", was a visitor to the club? Find out about that and more during Vagel's presentation.
Friday, July 11th we'll be having our Summer Cocktail Class. This is a club member only event - you can bring your spouse or significant other - as space is limited to just 15 participants for this one. Join Susan from Breakthru Beverage as she teaches you some spins on classic cocktails! Let me know if you plan on attending by either emailing me at [email protected] or give me a call at 412.281.5858. The cost is $20 per person and can be paid from your monthly food and beverage spend.
We have a new reciprocal club partner! The Engineers' Club of Dayton has partnered with us. If there's one group that knows how to have a good time, it's the engineering community of Dayton, Ohio, that's what I've heard at least. The club has been around since 1914 and has lots of events, dining options, etc. to consider. If you think you're going to find yourself in Dayton, let me know and I'll make the introduction.
The Dice Game Returns! Folks out there receiving this message will know better than me, but the AHYP Club had a famous dice game for decades. The club took great pride in this tradition as illustrated by the fact the game's winners can be seen burnished on the doors of none other than the back bar liquor cabinet in the lounge, so it was a pretty prestigious honor to be the club's dice game champion. With that in mind, I'd like to rekindle the dice game this summer.
*Friday, July 18th will be the date
*Start time will be 630pm
*Beyond this, I am working out the details. If you know of the game's history, rules, etc., please get in contact with me. I have a set of rules but it would be nice to hear details from someone who may have played or attended the game first-hand.
Finally, I'm attaching to this message some circa 1987 photos of club members having a good time at the AHYP. This is from one of the scrap books in the lounge. Look closely, maybe you know someone or maybe you're in one of the photos?
That's all for now,
-Dave
