Underground Arts is a two-room, 12,000-square-foot venue for music and performance art designed to bring international and national talent to Philadelphia while cultivating the local music/art scene. Each month we donate a portion of our ticket sales to Bread & Roses Community Fund – the Philadelphia region’s leading funder of grassroots organizing for racial, social, and economic justice. 🌹

One of the groups the Bread & Roses community of donors supports is Ollin Yoliztli Calmecac - OYC. OYC organizes through “insurgent culture work” that challenges the country’s dominant culture. OYC seeks to educate and establish new ways of understanding and living. OYC’s political education around cultural sovereignty is more
important than ever under the threat of ICE raids and mass deportations. Translated from the Aztec language Nahuatl as "school of the blood that moves in the heart,” OYC’s mission is to investigate, understand, and raise awareness of the Mexicayotl culture, which flourished in Mexico before the arrival of the Spanish in 1492.

The newest piece of merch in the Underground Arts store is an homage to two subcultures that are very near and dear to the heart of our venue, Hardcore and Philly Graffiti. These shirts feature a live shot of west coast rippers DRAIN in the basement and authentic Philly graffiti handstyles on the front and back. Printed in South Philly at on Hanes Beefy tees. You can now rep the venue and the culture all in one shot.
