Your DJ (or band) will keep the hype going and the dance floor busy all night. That said, be sure they are responsive to requests, willing to do what you want (rather than play what they feel is best), has great reviews, and works well with others! While most DJs are AWESOME, the only wedding vendors I have ever blacklisted have been DJs due to disregarding the couple's wishes or going off-script in a way that hurt the overall event.

A year ago today, I was up in Highlands, NC at one of the Old Edwards Inn private homes, Hutchinson House, for a beautiful wedding! The bride's mother created the gorgeous floral landscape for the ceremony and the day went off without a hitch! Need a coordinator for your wedding, I'm your girl!

When it comes to catering, I feel like most of us have an idea of what we want to eat. That said, a lot goes in to choosing a catering team. Here are some questions to consider. How many guests have strict dietary restrictions and can the caterer provide safe options for them? Have they ever worked at your venue? How many staff are included to serve or are they just dropping off food? Do they provide any extras like drinks/plates/silverware/napkins, etc.? Does your venue have any restrictions on food? Some venues do! What's the cost per head? Is pricing different for children?

Your wedding coordinator is going to be the vendor working most closely with you on wedding day, so it's important to find someone calm, competent, and experienced. While I would LOVE to coordinate for anyone reading this post, here are the things to consider when finding your coordinator. How experienced are they? How many weddings have they coordinated at your venue/with your guest count/with your wedding style? Do they have helping hands or do they work solo? Are they insured? How many hours day-of do they offer? How many meetings are you promised? Do they handle rehearsal? Do they build your timeline? Handle vendor payment reminders? Make sure you take the time to speak with each coordinator you're considering. Their tone over the phone should be a good indicator of if they'd be a good fit for your personally. You want to mesh well with them!

Wedding Photography pricing varies wildly and it depends on a number of factors. Here are some things to consider. How long has the photographer been shooting? How many wedding have they done as the primary photographer? Do they bring a second shooter? What's their photography style? How many photos are you expecting to take/send? Do we get sneak peek photos? How long does it take to edit/return our gallery? How are those delivered? Make sure you do your due diligence and look at client reviews, not just social media posts with photography! Word of mouth recommendations are great for any wedding vendor, but ESPECIALLY photographers!

When comparing venue quotes make sure that all areas align with your vision. Does your guest count fit in the space? Is your guest count "too small" for such a large space? You don't want to overpay for a lot of extras included that you can't use. What's included? A lot of venues include tables/chairs and maybe even some decor or backdrop pieces for your ceremony. How long is the rental period? Are there vendor or decor restrictions? Can you have a sparkler sendoff and real candles? What insurance requirements do you (the couple) and your vendors have to carry? Just because a space is cheaper, doesn't mean it's better. Sometimes it just means you're getting less and will be spending more overall. Don't rule out a more expensive venue option until you know what's included!

There are SO MANY options for cakes! You can go with a delicious tiered number for multiple flavor options, you can add a flair with fondant, you can go all-in on a chocolatey delight. I even had a client add layers of lights for a winter wonderland effect, as their cake cutting was after dark in a covered exterior space! I personally will HAVE to have a Brick Street sweet potato cake!
