UM Opera Theatre provides comprehensive training for the next generation of singing-actors ! Ford Performing Arts Center in 2003.

The nationally recognized Ole Miss Opera Theatre provides the opportunity for skill development in music, drama, movement, and design specifically related to opera performance. Fully staged productions include scenes and chamber opera each Fall and a full-length opera with orchestra each Spring. The Opera Theatre’s production of The Magic Flute was the first opera to be performed in the Gertrude C

We now start the 1 Week Countdown for UM Opera's Scene Showcase "Curtains Up!: Scenes of Scandal and Intrigue" on Oct. 24th at 7:30 PM and Oct. 26th at 3:00 PM in Nutt Auditorium.

Our cast has been working incredibly hard for this performance and are ready to knock your socks off!! So come join us this coming Friday and Sunday for a performance of a lifetime!

UM Opera Theatre is joining the LOU Symphony for the annual Side-By-Side collaborative concert! Teachers can nominate a high school or community college singer to join us as in a two day event culminating in a performance with the orchestra under the baton of William Waldrop, tony nominated conductor of Cats, Evita, Phantom and more! UM Opera Theatre is EXCITED to announce its 2025-2026 season-“Behind the Curtain: A Season of Conflict & Chaos!” CurtainsUp! Scenes of Scandal & Intrigue Oct. 24-26, An Evening of Arias February 25, and Mozart’s comedy “Der Schauspieldirektor “ or “The Impresario” April 24-26 sung in German with English dialogue! In addition to these three staged extravaganzas, the students will also be performing with the LOU Symphony this fall on November 3! We can’t wait to see you there!

UM Opera Theatre is back for the 25-26 season! Auditions for our upcoming season are next Thursday, August 28 4-5:45 in Music 224. We are looking forward to welcoming our returning singers and some new faces as well!

Well, we've had an incredible season here at UM Opera! We explored Love of all types from our scenes program, "The Ties that Bind", our Aria Showcase, and our Opera production, Dan Shore's "The Beautiful Bridegroom". We had wonderful masterclass with the impeccable Angela Brown and a glorious improv masterclass with Faustino Solis.

It's going to be hard to beat this past season, but we look forward to even more fantastic experiences when we return next semester. So keep your eyes peeled for next season's announcement!
