We are deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved friend and local chef . Captivating guests with his warmth, wit and extraordinary talent, Chef John was one of the earliest supporters of our Fresh Starts Chef Events, presenting sold-out dinners every year, since 2014.

He had a gift for making every event unforgettable, blending his passion for food with his love of teaching. Our students, staff and guests will always remember the encouragement, skills, and inspiration he shared so generously.

Just last fall, we were honored to welcome him back as a guest with Hog Island chefs, who prepared a vibrant menu inspired by his recipes. Our Fresh Starts Chef Events have flourished in no small part because of his dedication and support.

Chef John’s spirit will continue to live on in the meals we create and the students he inspired. He will be deeply missed.

The best part of summer? Tomatoes! Juicy, sweet and right off the vine—there’s nothing quite like a perfectly ripe heirloom tomato, especially when it’s the star of a beautiful summer salad. 🍅✨

Did you know, we grow much of our produce right here on site , then use our bounty in the menus featured at our Key Room events. It doesn’t get more seasonal (or satisfying) than that!
