🎓 A New School Year, A New Beginning

There’s truly something special about working in education. 💙

Last week marked my 4th Fall Convocation, followed by our President’s Reception in Kentfield, and it’s always such a meaningful way to kick off a new academic year. Gathering with faculty, staff, and administrators is a wonderful reminder that education is so much more than classrooms and coursework; it’s about people, opportunity, connection, and community.

Community colleges play such an important role in the communities they serve. They open doors, create pathways, strengthen our local workforce, and give students the opportunity to pursue new dreams, right in their own backyard. This year convocation was about Defining Our Future: Accessibility, Equity, Innovation, and Student Success. Awards were handed out to COM staff that were recognized by their peers who are recognized for their work with our students. 👏

As we begin another school year, there’s a real sense of excitement and possibility in the air. We’re looking forward to welcoming our new and returning students and being part of all the accomplishments, challenges, milestones, and memories that lie ahead. ✨

Here’s to a great year ahead and to the incredible people who make our college community what it is. Welcome back! Let’s make it a great one. 📚🍎

Some events stay with you long after the last guest has gone home. ❤️

For the past several months, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a wonderful family as they planned their daughter’s Quinceañera — dreaming, planning, coordinating, and watching all the little details come together for such an important milestone.

And then… the day finally arrived. ✨

More than 250+ family members, friends, and church community members gathered to celebrate this beautiful young woman. From the ceremony and reception to dinner, heartfelt speeches, photo presentation, laughter, and the much-anticipated cake cutting, every moment reflected the love and support surrounding her.

There is something incredibly special about witnessing a family’s vision come to life after months of conversations and planning. To see the room filled with the people who mean the most to them was truly touching.

And there was an extra-special connection to this celebration: this family came to us through a referral from a past user group. Getting to welcome them into our venue and then see that same group connection continue was such a wonderful reminder of what makes this work so meaningful.

We may provide the space, coordinate the details, and help bring the pieces together but the families, the traditions, the stories and the people are what truly make an event unforgettable.

Thank you for trusting us with such an important chapter in your family’s story. It was an absolute joy to watch your Quinceañera dreams come to life. 💕✨

Here’s to a beautiful young woman, a loving family, and more than 250+ people who showed up to celebrate her. What a night to remember. 🎈 🎂💃

An unforgettable evening honoring courage, compassion, and the people who answer the call when every second matters. ❤️🚑

The Marin County Survivors Celebration 2026 brought together six remarkable survivors with the emergency response teams and hospital staff who helped guide them through life-and-death moments. For some, it was the very first time meeting the people who saved their lives — together, on one stage, surrounded by a community filled with gratitude.

From a beautiful outdoor afternoon May reception to a shared sit-down buffet dinner and heartfelt program, the evening reminded us what true teamwork, humanity, and service look like.

We were honored to welcome emergency units from across Marin, along with hospitals, medical professionals, and public safety teams whose dedication changes lives every day.

A special thank you to our own College of Marin EMT students, who assisted throughout the event from start to finish with professionalism, heart, and incredible care.

These are the moments that stay with you. ✨ EmergencyResponse Gratitude
