Lincoln in the what?? 🤔

In anticipation of the world premiere of Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek’s Lincoln in the Bardo, based on George Saunders’s bestselling novel, we’re exploring the context of the opera’s creation.

And later m this week, hundreds of local students and educators will be the first audience to experience this new work as part of Access Opera: Guild Open Rehearsals for Students.

We recently had the good fortune to host Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh for a conversation focused on expanding access to the arts for young audiences.

Members of our Met Students Ambassadors program were on hand to discuss their experiences learning about opera, coming to the Met, and encouraging their peers to do the same.

Last week, nearly 1,300 local students and educators attended the final dress rehearsal of La Bohème, Puccini’s classic tale of friendship and romance in nineteenth-century Paris, through Access Opera: Guild Open Rehearsals for Students.

Students don’t wait for Opening Night! ✨

Ahead of the official start of the Met’s 2026-27 season, nearly 1,000 local students and educators got to attend the final dress rehearsal of Verdi’s Macbeth, starring Quinn Kelsey and L I S E D A V I D S E N as the scheming couple in Louisa Proske’s eagerly anticipated Met directorial debut.

It’s Macbeth-a-palooza! 🧙🏼‍♀️🧙🏼‍♀️🧙🏼‍♀️

We’ve just mailed out nearly 700 copies of Shakespeare’s great tragedy to HD Live in Schools partners across the country, who will be reading “The Scottish Play” as part of Opera Book Club.

Students will also be able to watch and submit questions for livestream conversations with artists and experts bringing the story from page to stage.

Students, it’s time to take the stage! 📢

We are now accepting applications for Met Student Ambassadors for the 2026-27 season. This group is the Met’s volunteer student think-tank for publicizing new initiatives, devising promotional strategy on local campuses, and planning exclusive events for Met Students members.

Ambassadors gain exclusive access to Met staff, creatives, and artists, as well as free admission to select ticketed events.
