Community Spotlight: The Ringling
The story of The Ringling begins nearly a century ago in Sarasota, and a visit or event at this iconic museum is a must when bringing guests to the area.
Right now, visitors can experience the new exhibition, The Evocative Lens: Pictorialism and the Rise of Fine Art Photography, on view through September 16. Drawn from The Ringling's permanent collection, the exhibition explores how early art photographers set out to distance their work from the growing snapshot culture of the early 1900s, developing a visual language all their own. Featured artists include Alfred Stieglitz, Clarence H. White, Edward Steichen, and pioneering women photographers Gertrude Käsebier, Eva Watson-Schütze, and Anne Brigman.
If you're planning an event in Sarasota, this is a beautiful and meaningful venue to consider.
