FIRST IN SERVICE FRIDAY!✨ Please help the City of Myrtle Beach congratulate Maurice Monroe for being this week's First in Service Friday Employee of the Week! Maurice is part of the Facility Services Event Staff at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center.

Maurice joined the city in October 2024. Originally from Virginia, he moved to Myrtle Beach a decade ago but recently discovered just how much the city has to offer. As a member of the Operations team at the Convention Center, Maurice helps maintain the grounds, builds event sets, and handles setup and breakdown for the hundreds of events hosted each year.

Maurice says his favorite part of the job is the variety. “There’s never a dull moment, and every day brings something new!” His nomination reads:

“I would like to nominate Maurice Monroe for the First in Service Friday Employee of the Week award! Maurice always takes pride in his work and pays attention to details. As we were talking while tending to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, he mentioned that he takes responsibility for his area of work and likes to leave it clean and ready for the next shift. During events, Maurice is constantly answering questions and helping attendees find their way around the building. He does so with a smile and is pleasant to all clientele. Maurice is proud of his work and a true asset to the city… And a great example of what it means to be First in Service!”
