🇺🇸 NEW MEXICO… or NEW AMERICA? 🌶️

President Trump shared an image showing “Mexico” crossed out in New Mexico and replaced with “America.” The White House account reposted it, and—as you can imagine—New Mexicans had some thoughts. 😂

But could a president actually rename a state?

Not by himself. Changing a state’s official name would be far more complicated than changing how the federal government refers to a geographic feature. New Mexico’s name appears throughout its state constitution, so a real change could involve the Legislature, constitutional changes, New Mexico voters and potentially federal action as well.

And here’s the history people sometimes miss:

👉 New Mexico was New Mexico before Mexico was Mexico.

The name Nuevo México was in use centuries before Mexico became an independent country in 1821.

👉 It also predates the United States.

The name was already being used before American independence in 1776.

So New Mexico wasn’t simply named that because it’s next to Mexico. The name has a history stretching back centuries.

New Mexico officially became the 47th state in 1912—and 114 years later, we’re still explaining to people that we’re actually part of the United States. 😂

So let’s hear it:

Man… the longer I do this, the more I realize something.

I don’t love radio just because I’m in radio.

I love radio because of what it does.

It brings people together. It builds community. We laugh together. We cry together. Sometimes we laugh so hard we cry. 😂 We hear a song and suddenly we’re transported back to a moment, a person, a summer, a memory.

Before timelines, followers, likes and algorithms… radio was social media.

And now? I don’t think radio competes with all these other platforms. I think they complement each other. Radio starts the conversation, and social, podcasts, video and everything else give us more places to keep it going.

I’m blessed that after all these years, I still get to turn on a microphone and use this platform to amplify voices, celebrate our community and hopefully make somebody’s day a little better.

That’s still pretty damn cool.

This is heartbreaking. 💔

Actress Hayden Panettiere has died at just 36 years old, according to her representative.

For so many of us, Hayden was part of the shows we grew up watching — from Claire Bennet on Heroes to Juliette Barnes on Nashville.

Her family described her as “an incredible light and a force of nature” who brought love and joy to the people around her and millions who watched her onscreen.

The circumstances surrounding her death have not yet been made public.

36 is far too young. Rest in peace, Hayden. 🕊️
