Our Wish Heros are so amazing! Thank you Marijo Cordova who placed 3rd in the Market Lamb Division Medium Wool at the Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show and Rodeo! Marijo made the decision to donate half of her earnings to Make-A-Wish Rio Grande Valley, helping more children in the Rio Grande Valley receive life changing wishes.

Make-A-Wish Rio Grande Valley grants wishes to children ages 2 1/2 -under 18 in Hidalgo, Cameron, Willacy, Brooks, Starr, and Kenedy counties. We have granted almost 1,700 local wishes since 1997 - and it is because of our generous community members that we have been able to impact so many lives! Thank you so much for this beautiful and generous act of kindness to bring joy, hope, and excitement to other Valley children!

They competed in our first ever high school bbq division along with Harlingen High, but also competed against some of the best cooks from around the state!!

Let me tell you they kicked some bbq butt! Weslaco ISD you all did a fantastic job and all of your students were very respectful. We hope to see you back next year!!!

On behalf of all the Smokin’ on the Rio Board of Directors and Smokin’ volunteers, we would like to thank each and every cooking team, including our High School and KIDS QUE participants.
We want to thank all of our vendors for their awesome food and merchandise!

Huge thank you to all the people who came to our event to see what we were all about!!!!
