As some of you know, I spent a lot of hours on the phone with Frankie Miller. I learned a lot of what I know about Country music history from him.

His son Greg Wilson helped Frankie accomplish one of his biggest goals, a book to share his stories.

Frankie toured with George Jones, wrote a hit song or 2 for Webb Pierce and even had one of his songs on Waylon's Outlaws album.

Take a listen to Frankie singing one of his favorite Webb Pierce songs and telling me stories.

This is part one of two.

My friend, Country Music Legend, Frankie Miller has passed. I just received a text from his son in law Greg Wilson that he passed peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Saturday August 29, 2026

Frankie lived to be 95 years old.
( Born December 17, 1930)

I met Frankie first over the phone thanks to the great Tracy Pitcox who has spent a lifetime finding the living legends and getting them the attention and praise they deserve in their later years.

Frankie Miller is not a household name even to most classic country fans. But he was part of an important part of Country music history. He started recording in the early 1950s, went on the road with George Jones many times, wrote songs for Waylon Jennings and was the 1st guy to take Willie Nelson on the road from Nashville too. Back when Willie was just a clean cut Whippersnapper.

Grand Ole Country Bunker would not exist if not for Frankie Miller. God Bless Frankie Miller the Blackland Farmer.
