The dahlias are blooming so fast, and I just hate to let these beautiful blooms go to waste, so over the weekend I set up a table at the end of the driveway and a sign that said Flowers for sale, fill a vase for $10. 🌸 I’m so glad if you were able to get some and are enjoying them now! Or maybe you blessed someone else with a bouquet. 🥰. Thank you.
I know bouquets like this cost three and four times this much elsewhere, but the truth is I would gladly just give them to you. They are too beautiful to keep to myself. It’s true they don’t last but a week at most, but flowers are for the moment. 🌺. Dahlias make that moment so sweet.
Today, with what was left (after they had been sitting outside for two days and two nights!) I made this bouquet for my kitchen. ❤️ The obsession continues. Look at these flowers! There is nothing like them.
God must have said something like: “I’m just going to blow their minds with these.” And then he even left it to us to expand on their beauty. I’ve been growing dahlias for about five years, but this will be my first year to collect seeds from them. When pollinators go from flower to flower, it kind of mixes up the genetics and by collecting seeds and growing them next year, I will produce completely original dahlia varieties. (Growing them from the tubers that they multiply underground will produce a dahlia of exactly the same genetics.)
Whether the dahlias grown from seed next year will exhibit the traits that we want to see in cut flower dahlias remains to be seen, but it’s going to be very exciting! 🌼 (for me anyway!)
No filters on pics. They really are this bright.
