From stranger, to employee, to friend, to family!

Forty-three-year-old Jerry Wayne Craigo lost his life on March 30, 2026, at 2:20pm as he was walking home from a trip to a nearby store on 195 in Killeen, Texas. Hired as a temp worker by Monique Stone, then owner of Endeavors Performing Arts & Special Events Venue in August of 2021, Jerry soon became a trusted employee as he worked hard, never complained and always expressed his appreciation for the opportunity. Jerry, who was previously homeless prior to meeting Stone, displayed high level remodeling, auto mechanics, electronic and landscaping skills - further surprising Stone.
So, Stone made a deal with Jerry that would change his trajectory, keep him off the streets and better his and his ESA Pit-bull Tank's life. Over the course of four and a half years, Jerry not only became a valued and respected member of the event center team, but in her family, her customers and her friends circle as well. Stone's vow to see that Jerry and Tank were to never be homeless again came to fruition, because they were never homeless again.
“Jerry meant the world to us and us to him. All he wanted was a chance to prove himself and contribute to society in some way. He volunteered with our non-profits quarterly giveback events and was proud to help displaced Veterans and area homeless here in Killeen - many of which he knew personally. Jerry just needed someone to actually see him and for the chance to love and be loved in return. Which he absolutely was loved by us and by his ride or die sidekick Tank, whom we will continue to love and make our home his forever home,” Stone reassured.
Jerry Wayne Craigo was a long-time resident of Killeen, father of two beautiful children, (a son and a daughter) who did not live in the area. He is also survived by his mother, stepfather and older brother who resides in New Jersey. His home-going celebration is set for Sunday April 19, 2026, from 2pm to 4pm (come rain or shine) at Lions Parks off the main entry. Refreshments will be available and everyone is welcome.
