Our customers choose A to Z above the rest because of our knowledgeable staff of experienced theatre professionals. We are committed to helping our customers in any way we can. No question is too strange and no project is too large or too small. We carry products to purchase including costumes, lighting equipment and supplies, scenic hardware and expendables, and theatrical makeup. Our rental department includes costumes, props and scenic elements, lighting equipment, sound equipment and special effects. Our theatrical contracting department has worked on hundreds of theaters, churches, and school auditoriums across the region designing and installing theatrical rigging, lighting, and sound systems to suit the particular needs of each customer.

This project started with a rigging inspection.

In January, ACME completed a rigging inspection for a Milwaukee school. The inspection found the spacing between pick points to be too wide, contributing to bowing in the nearly 40 foot pipe battens.

To correct the issue without replacing the entire rigging system, ACME recommended replacing the pipe battens with truss battens. Their trussed construction provides greater rigidity, allowing them to span wider distances between pick points with less deflection.

After reviewing the inspection findings, the school chose to move forward with the recommended repair.

A to Z Theatrical, ACME’s sister company, fabricated 19 new truss battens at its Kansas City shop. They will be installed at the school this fall.

A rigging inspection does not automatically lead to a project of this scale. Most recommended repairs are much smaller, and many can be completed by your performing arts center’s own staff.

A to Z Theatrical’s Kansas City and Wichita locations and ACME in Milwaukee each have in-house rigging inspection teams.
