Yup, here's a real image for you. A red sun, smoke in the air, and fog at the ground can all be seen out at our Ace Aviation camera in Ann Arbor, MI this morning, July 17th, 2026.

Reports of ashes raining onto vehicles have also been tossed our way, and we aren't surprised given the heavy plume that moved in overnight. Visibilities this morning are under 1/2 mile in spots. Turn on headlights this morning to avoid accidents.

Every single weather camera in our network continues to show the same story. Smoke. Some improvement is possible later this evening. Time of post 7:34 am EDT.
