Honoring Brother Harry Houdini — 100 Years Later

October 31, 2026, marked 100 years since the passing of legendary magician, escape artist, and Freemason Harry Houdini. Beyond his extraordinary career in magic, Houdini was a proud Master Mason, Shriner, and longtime National President of the Society of American Magicians.

In this special centennial tribute, the Kellar-Thurston Assembly No. 6 of the Society of American Magicians was honored to perform the traditional Broken Wand Ceremony at Mount Ararat Lodge No. 44 in Bel Air, Maryland. This moving ceremony symbolizes the end of a magician's earthly performances while honoring a legacy that lives on.

Special thanks to host Maynard Edwards, 33°, for sharing Houdini's remarkable Masonic history and helping preserve this meaningful tradition for future generations.

A century later, Brother Houdini's magic, brotherhood, and legacy continue to inspire!

The Carroll Arts Center will present a tribute to local legend Ray-mond Corbin, who served in 1984 as S.A.M. National President. Thanks to Carly Ferguson for the photos.

100 years ago today, the world lost Harry Houdini. This year, I visited his hometown of Appleton, Wisconsin, to honor the master of escape. Today, I'm carrying his legacy forward with my conceptual shows. Happy Houdini Halloween everyone! 🕸️🎭
