Happy Dolly Day! 💕🌸

Dolly Parton was someone who showed the world what it looked like to lead with kindness, generosity, and love.
She used her success and her platform to lift people up, give people hope, encourage children, support communities, and bring a little more joy into the world. She gave so much of herself, and she made kindness feel powerful.

That spirit was at the heart of Plantiness, too. 🌱
Plantiness started with 42 little plants and handwritten notes left for strangers — just a small attempt to make someone’s day a little brighter.

Because Dolly showed us something beautiful: you didn’t have to change the whole world to make a difference. You just had to make one person’s world a little better.

One plant. One smile. One kind gesture. One little ripple of love.
That was the kind of energy I wanted Plantiness to put into the world. 🌱💗

Tour de Fat is one of those Fort Collins traditions that is just full of LIFE — costumes, bikes, laughter, silliness, music, and so much joy. I rode in the parade last weekend and got to see so many friends along the way and was havinga blast. It was exactly what Tour de Fat is supposed to be.

And then something terrible happened.

I was standing right in front of The Rio when a large truck drove into a group of pedestrians. I witnessed it happen, and I honestly don't have the words to describe how heartbreaking and horrifying it was. 1 person was killed and 5 others were injured.
I am so saddened by what happened. I’ve been thinking about it ever since.

My heart is with everyone who was affected — everyone who was injured, everyone who witnessed it, the first responders, the people who helped, and especially to Joshua Douglass who lost their life and their loved ones who are now living with that unimaginable loss.

I am grateful for the people who immediately stepped up, helped each other, and showed so much care and compassion in such a terrible moment. I am incredibly grateful for my friends for being there for me and giving me the space to just be.

Fort Collins is strong. We are kind. We show up for each other. And even in the middle of something so awful, I was reminded how much love exists in this community.

Tour de Fat is about celebrating life, and I hope we can hold onto that — while also making space for the sadness and for everyone who is hurting.

There are some moments in the Plantiness journey that I will never forget, and being interviewed by 9NEWS in 2022 is definitely one of them. 🪴

Anne Herbst came to my house and spent the ENTIRE day with me. She let me share the story of how Plantiness started, why I created it, and why it means so much to me. She watched me propagate and pot plants that were going to be gifted, and then we headed out into the December cold to Odell and Horse & Dragon to give plants away!

At the time, Plantiness was only about 2½ years old and I had gifted fewer than 800 plants.
Fast forward to today… over 6,000 plants gifted across 28 states and 16 countries. 🌎🪴

Plantiness exists to spread light and love through the happiness plants give you. What started as a little idea during a difficult time has grown into something far bigger than I ever imagined. It has become a community, a mission, and a huge part of my life.

The story aired across five states, and I received messages from people in all of them. That still blows my mind.
I absolutely love what I do. I truly can't imagine my life any other way. 💚

What I love the absolute most about looking back on this day, is seeing videos and pictures of my pups Grizzly & Scruffy 🥰🥰 they both passed 2 years ago. They were THE BEST HELPERS and I miss them every day. Thank you Grizzly and Scruffy for all of your love ❤️
