When I style events like bridal showers, baby showers, and birthdays, I tend to aim for a diminutive look: intentional and restrained. The balloon sizes I choose are smaller… I even inflate them smaller! But corporate installs? No way. Everything is scaled up. Instead of my dainty 11s, the majority of the body is 17s— 11s become the accent, and 24s are plentiful throughout rather than sparing. The focus shifts to dimension and framing. It’s a welcome challenge!

The wildly popular teddy bear theme from years ago has most certainly been given a posh makeover, because the Ralph Lauren bear has taken over!

Refinement and restraint are what I strive for, often against my maximalist tendencies— this event (much like the RL brand) allowed for both. We kept the balloons monochrome but went for body and texture; we injected hints of stripes and plaid but didn’t plaster everything in pattern; we included an eclectic mix of visuals, but kept it curated.

My favorite detail is surely the miniature gallery on the focal point installation, and that we got to hand these special keepsakes off to our lovely client to hang in Ayan’s room for years to come.

What an honor it is to have clients return to us year after year to help them bring their events to life. Forever grateful I get to do this work!

When my husband’s parents were just teenagers, they were forced to flee Afghanistan as the Soviet Union invaded. They left everything behind, and made so many sacrifices to find safety and build a life for their children. They are the strongest people I know.

In their hometown of Mazar-e-sharif, there is a brilliant turquoise mosque called the Mausoleum of Imam Ali. This installation was inspired by its breathtaking tile work, along with Afghanistan’s national flower, the tulip.

I pray for those displaced by war, for those who have lost loved ones to senseless violence, and for those who are trying to build a safe and humble life for their families. Eid Mubarak, from our family to yours.

There is no greater joy, for me, than hosting those I love. My parents instilled this in me a long time ago, when they would fill our modest home with family, friends, neighbors and coworkers every Christmas Eve.

We’d craft handmade gifts, sitting at our kitchen table like little elves the entire month of December. They would cook and bake for days in preparation, to not only fill everyone’s bellies but also send them home with heaps of cookies and candy. Hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars of my parents’ blue collar dollars were saved for and spent on this one night, to show their love for their community.

Even when we moved from my childhood home on Long Island to their current home in Florida, not knowing anyone there, somehow by that first Christmas Eve they had amassed enough people to once again fill every room with conversation and laughter. It’s those sounds, that feeling, that I look for every single Christmas. I don’t think I’ll ever be half the host my parents were, but last night, I felt it again.

Thank you to my family who celebrated with me last night. I hope you come again next year.

The best party of the year!! We were thrilled to be invited back to help decorate Sophia and Julian’s 2nd Annual Gingerbread Party by cookie decorator (and event planner!) extraordinaire, Kate of .cielo.cookies. The Christmas magic and joy in that room was undeniable, and we cherished every minute!
