Progressive Dance Studio will be closed Thursday, October 2nd, in observance of Yom Kippur. Classes will resume Friday as scheduled. To view the studios full schedule of closures for this season, visit our website and click the calendar tab. See you at the barre on Friday! 🩰

CALLING ALL PARENTS!!!

We have opened a new beginner Tap class for adults! Sunday at 11:30-12:30! Lets go... it’s your turn to hit the dance floor!

As they say... Move it or lose it! And that is exactly what we are calling our new Adult dance program “MOVE IT OR LOSE IT!” We will be introducing more classes within the next month!

David Wynen will be teaching the tap class and he is fabulous!! It is guaranteed that you will have a great time! Dads too!!

Please email [email protected] if you would like to take class this Sunday. If you don’t have Tap shoes by then you can wear hard soled shoes without rubber on the bottom. ( Dress shoes)

$27 per class for drop in OR $25 per class if you buy 4 classes up front.

📣MEET THE FACULTY📣
Please give a warm welcome to ✨Mr. Erick✨

Mr.Erick was a guest acro teacher for us this summer at the company intensive and will be guest teaching for us this season! Keep an eye out for our pop-up Acro Camps!

Erick Bateman is a multidisciplinary artist who currently resides in New York City. A graduate from the University of North Carolina - School of the Arts, Erick has an extensive technical understanding of the body from studying techniques such as Graham, Cunningham, Limon, and Countertechnique. Mr. Bateman is also a demonstrator with AcrobaticArts, a comprehensive training and certification program that provides an in-depth understanding of acrobatic progressions to teachers and studio owners. His most recent credits include Dylan Pearce, Evan Wilkins, Sissa Strain, and Mike Baerga, and Broadway Dance Center as a regular substitute teacher. Erick values bringing the excitement of education to the new generation of dance through teaching technique and progressions to all students of dance.

📣MEET THE FACULTY📣
We are so excited to welcome ✨Mr.Kani✨ to the PDS Family!

Mr.Kani “NIKE” will be teaching hip hop classes on Monday and choreographing for our competition team dancers this season!

Kani “NIKEE” Kee is a dance professional with over 15 years of experience specializing in hip hop styles like commercial, popping, house, and grooves. He has performed, choreographed, and taught at various studios and events on the East Coast and recently judges regional dance competitions. A 2x Joffrey full scholarship recipient, Kani has a background with Company BE in Connecticut and has performed with the LA Sparks and CT Suns. He frequently collaborates with notable choreographers and has participated in New York flash mobs. He is the assistant director of Kee2Dance Dance Company in New Haven, CT, as well as the hip hop director of New England Dance in Cromwell, CT. Kani emphasizes balancing technical skill with individual expression, fostering a constructive environment for dancers’ growth and creativity.

We are so excited to welcome our new Tap teacher to the PDS FAMILY!

✨Mr.David✨

David Wynen is an international music theatre and dance expert. He has worked as a “triple threat” in all aspects of theatre, television and film. Major theatrical credits include Hocus Pocus, 42ndSt, Carmen, Don Quixote and the original cast of Billy Elliot.
Wynen is currently the Head of Dance at the State University of New York, having previously served as the Head of Music Theatre at Federation University in Australia. He has been instrumental in teaching and mentoring students and professionals, working in such diverse fields as film, TV, event management, choreography, direction, writing and performance. His students have appeared in international productions such as Kinky Boots, Mamma Mia, We Will Rock You, Wicked, Legally Blonde, Jersey Boys, Matilda, Les Miserables, The Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Hairspray, Cats, Strictly Ballroom, A Chorus Line, The Lion King, The Producers, Moulin Rouge, Come From Away and Six.
Wynen has been awarded the EJ Barker Fellowship, the Deans Award and the Vice Chancellor Award and most recently he received the Harpur College award. He was also awarded the prestigious Australian Government Citation for Learning and Teaching for his groundbreaking international work on Tap Rhythm, the first online tap syllabus of its kind: taprhythm.com (http://taprhythm.com/). He is also an expert in Luigi Jazz Dance and is the chief education officer for the teacher certification program.
He has lectured for VCA, Lehman College, Chapman University, University of Alabama, San Diego State, NYU, Ithaca College, University of Western Michigan and Carnegie Mellon University. In August he will join the faculty of the most prestigious dance school in New York, Steps on Broadway. Most recently David directed a full-scale professional production on ‘Come From Away’ in Australia.

📣MEET OUR FACULTY📣
We are so excited to introduce our newest member to the PDS family! Welcome guest teacher, ✨Miss Belle✨

Miss Belle taught Jazz and Contemporary at our company intensive this summer and will be guest teaching for the PDS dancers this season!

Belle Jessen is a performing artist, choreographer, and instructor from the Chicagoland area. She received her BFA in Jazz Dance from Point Park University and is currently based in NYC.

Her bicoastal dance career bridges both concert and commercial worlds. She has worked with artists Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Banks, Charli XCX, Troye Sivan, and Moby, and has appeared on The Voice, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, and at Disney’s D23. She’s performed with Visceral Dance Chicago, Arrogant Elbow, in works by Peter Chu, Megan Lawson, and Annalee Traylor. She has also been a part of theater workshops with choreographers Ellenore Scott and Ahmad Simmons.

Belle has choreographed for professional companies, award-winning competitive dance studios, music videos, and several self-produced dance films found online. Last summer, she choreographed a national commercial for Kitchen Aid.

In addition to her performance career, Belle is the creator of The Artist Workbook, a guided journal for dancers that combines goal setting, reflection, and creative exploration. She is passionate about supporting the next generation of artists with a blend of technical rigor, creativity, and care.

Belle is thrilled to work with the young artists at Progressive Dance Studio!
