🌈 What a way to kick off Pride Month.

On Friday, we had the honor of attending Garden State Equality’s Equality Ball, where we donated a grazing table and connected with New Jersey State Senator M. Teresa Ruiz, Assemblywoman Carmen Theresa Morales, and Assemblyman Michael J. Venezia.

Then on Saturday, while vending at the South Bergen Pride Festival with The Seasoned Rican, we had the incredible opportunity to meet Bergen County Executive James J. Tedesco III, Congresswoman Nellie Pou, Rutherford Council President Stephanie McGowan, Sidra A. Razzaq, Jared Lautz, and Julian Jimenez.

What made these moments even more special was hearing that many of them had already heard about our businesses and wanted to personally connect with us. We exchanged contact information, shared our story, discussed future opportunities, and left feeling incredibly grateful for the support.

As LGBTQIA+, women-owned, and minority-owned business owners, having the opportunity to build relationships with leaders at the county and state levels is something we don’t take for granted.

A huge thank you to Garden State Equality and the Rutherford Pride Alliance for creating spaces that bring communities together and make connections like these possible.

Last night, we had the honor of attending the Equality Ball hosted by Garden State Equality.

As a small way of giving back, D’s Cozy Kitchen & The Seasoned Rican donated a grazing table for the evening. While we were not the event caterer, it was incredibly meaningful to contribute to a night dedicated to celebrating, supporting, and advancing the LGBTQIA+ community.

Garden State Equality has long been an organization that means a great deal to us. Through advocacy, education, outreach, and support, they continue to make a real difference in the lives of so many people across New Jersey. We are grateful for the work they do every day and proud to support their mission whenever we can.

The evening was filled with community, connection, and conversations with people from all different backgrounds, generations, and experiences. It was a reminder of how powerful it is when people come together to uplift one another and work toward a more inclusive future.

And, for once, we got to experience an event from the guest side instead of the service side. After years of catering events, it was definitely a funny change of pace having hors d’oeuvres passed to us instead of being the ones passing them.

Thank you to everyone at Garden State Equality for inviting us to be part of such a special evening. We are honored to support your work, grateful for our partnership, and proud to stand alongside this community.

We should probably be resting before another busy weekend of catering events… but Vanessa had other plans. 😂

While most people know Vanessa as our Lead Chef and Co-Owner, many don’t realize she’s also the graphic designer, artist, and creative mind behind so much of what you see from D’s Cozy Kitchen & The Seasoned Rican.

Every one of these shirts started as an idea in her head. She designed them, created the artwork, and pressed them herself.

From “I’m a 10, but I smell like pernil” to “If Lost, Return to Kitchen,” we figured if we’re going to spend our lives in kitchens and at events, we might as well have some fun with it. ❤️

Who says baked potatoes have to be boring? 🥔✨

Our fully loaded Baked Potato Bar was packed with all the favorites, including butter, sour cream, shredded cheddar, crispy bacon, scallions, broccoli, baked beans, and more, allowing guests to build their perfect potato exactly the way they like it. This was such a huge hit.

Comfort food, crowd-pleasing flavors, and endless customization all in one station!
