🚨 ALL MOVED OUT 🚨
⚠️ Long Post ⚠️
To the Cortland Community,
We opened our doors on July 24, 2024 with a vision, a lot of faith, and a genuine love for this community. And for everyone who showed up, supported us, brought their families, celebrated with us, and made memories inside that Paint Room, thank you. That love was real, and we felt it every single time.
Now it’s only right we be just as real with you.
The truth is, the Paint Room wasn’t being used enough to sustain itself (less than 25% of the time). Meanwhile, the bills never stopped: rent, utilities, insurance, supplies… all of it. We built it with intention, we did the research, we listened to the community, and everything told us this should’ve worked.
But reality told a different story.
We tried to build something for our community, families, locals, people who wanted something different. We made a conscious decision not to center everything around the college crowd. We priced it so it could be accessible. We showed up with something creative, something positive, something new.
And still… it wasn’t enough to keep the doors open.
Running that space took everything: time, effort, energy, and resources. Being on standby “just in case” someone walked in… dealing with bookings that got canceled with no communication… stretching ourselves thin trying to be everywhere, support everyone, give back when asked (often to people and places who haven’t supported us).
That’s not said with bitterness. That’s just the truth.
And truth matters.
As on today, March 31st, 2026, the Paint Room is closed.
Not out of defeat, but out of wisdom.
Because while one part wasn’t working, another part of this vision was thriving. Our “on-the-go” experiences didn’t just grow, they showed us exactly where the demand really is. They gave us freedom, flexibility, and a way to serve people without drowning in overhead.
So we’re chose growth. We’re choosing sustainability. We’re choosing to move forward the right way.
This is not goodbye. Not even close.
We’re still bringing the full SPLAT! Sumthin’ experience: glow-in-the-dark party paints, splatter tents, splatter painting, spin art, paint guns, glitter, canvases, flying discs, t-shirts… all of it. The difference now is simple: we bring it to you. When you want it. Where you want it.
To everyone who supported us, THANK YOU. You helped build something that mattered.
To those who, “meant to but….”, we get it...
To those who knew and didn’t, it is what it is.
Just know, we’re still here, and we’re just getting started.
SPLAT Mobile is the on-the-go version of SPLAT! Sumthin’.
